You want a knife. The RAT Model 2 is a knife.

You want a practical, lightweight EDC folder that no one is clamoring for, yet every knife collector seems to have? You want a dependable beater knife that you can rely on, abuse, lose, replace, beat up, and not be afraid to lose again? You want the Honda Civic of the knife world: the RAT Model 2. Features: Blade that never needs sharpening: No Corrosion resistance: Sort of Resistance to chipping: Mostly Handle: Yes Multiple deployment options: Not here Finger choil: No way Ease of sharpening: If you knew how to sharpen a knife without help, you would buy a better knife Bluetooth: ?? No, what? You can drop this knife outside, lose it, find it, clean it, and never miss a beat. This is the knife you lose, replace, lose the replacement, find the original in the mud, and then feel happy about it. It can slice, it can pierce, and it can probably pry—though that is not recommended, but we do what we do. What do you want your knife to do? Cut staples? Get a better knife. Cut tape on the packages you have delivered every day? Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Did you know R.A.T. stands for Randall’s Adventure Training? Of course, you did. Randall’s Adventure & Training designed the original RAT knife line for Ontario Knife Company. After several years designing knives for Ontario, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin formed RAT Cutlery, which later became ESEE Knives. Did you even know?! The Ontario RAT Model 2 is roughly 13 now. That is old enough to have already attended its first cotillion. This is a knife with history that has done some wild things. You can loan this knife out. You can lose this knife. You can abuse this knife. This is a knife that will not judge you the way a Spyderco knife would. This isn't the knife you wanted. It's the knife you deserve. Why are you still reading reviews? Just buy the RAT Model 2. Buy two of them so you can lose one. You will be glad that you did.

Good value for the money

I use this knife as an EDC. It is small enough and light enough to fit comfortably in my pocket but large enough to handle any tasks I might use it for. I live in the city so the tasks are not too demanding. Opening packages, cutting fruit or other snacks and the occasional piece of rope. I don't know much about blade material but I have carried a knife daily for a few years and this knife is holding up well after several weeks. Handle fits comfortably in my hand. Four positions you can have the pocket clip is a nice feature although I left it as it was. I read a lot about how fast this knife was to open and it is true, very smooth opening with little force. Only minute con is the feel of the handle material. It is not very grippy. It doesn't bother me too much but if someone used the knife for some tougher task they may find it more of an inconvenience. I like that the handle comes in a variety of colors instead of just black.

Great knife

Great knife for the price can't beat it. Holds edge easy to sharpen and opens very easily. Highly recommend for a edc knife if it breaks or gets lost your not out a whole lot.

One of the best EDC knifes on the market

I couldn't be happier with the purchase of this great value knife. The blade is sharp and made of good steel. This knife is an EDC for me and is so light I find myself checking every now and then to make sure its still clipped to my pocket. Even though it is not assisted the blade action is so smooth, it fly's open with just a flick of the thumb. I own two of these knifes and will be purchasing more (for other color combos and gifts).

Solid edc

I use this knife in my edc rotation. I am a contractor an abuse my knives. My usual rotation was a Benchmade griptilian, Spyderco native, and a cheap Kershaw... This knife has fit in and become one of my go to carries. For the price, very respectable knife. I am ordering a second to back this one up.

Awesome knife!

The knife is everything I'd hoped for. I love this little folder and it is one of the more used knives in my edc rotation. One of the best knives you can get for the price range that it is in.

Blown away by action and sharpness

I have had knives 10x the price of the rat 2 that didn't impress me as much as this knife. Aus-8 is a great steel (at this price point), this knife is very close to perfection.
