Opinel N06 with Inox (Stainless) Blade

First, the price is very, very affordable for a quality, name brand knife. It arrived razor sharp and holds an edge well. The Vibroloc Safety Ring was loose when it arrive. I took the lock off and bent it slightly. Problem solved! It operates as it should now. Although some people use it as an EDC knife, IMO it may not be sturdy enough for the types of materials that everyday tasks present. I bought this knife, that I can leave in my back pack for day hikes. The primary use would be food prep, fruit etc. I bought this knife with Stainless Steel and one with Carbon Blade so l I can compare the performance of the two.

Inexpensive Quality

The Opinel 6 is a great knife for many cutting tasks. It's quite sharp out of the box. Nothing fancy, but very useful; and this one at a nice, small size.

Simple but Classy

I have small hands, so this little folder fits well. I really appreciated the design and materials it uses.It is inexpensive, but classy looking. Since I bought it, I have been carrying it and used it on small chores. Should always use the right tool for the right job.

great knife

this knife has been a great knife for me. i have used it to cut up fruit, make feather sticks and gut a fish. this knife is easy to clean and holds an edge well. when the look is under lots of pressure in has never failed me. the only problem i have found after 5 years is that the knife doesn’t look when you open the blade but that is something to get use to and after i did it was fine. this is a great knife and i would recommend it to anyone.

I love this knife

I bought this because I wanted a small, inexpensive knife to carry in my pocket or purse. I had mixed feelings when it first arrived, but it grew on me very quickly - the lock works well, the knife is strong and light, and it's pleasant to hold, look at, and use. I use it for daily small cutting tasks, and for making sandwiches. It may be small for some men, but I'm a woman and I actually think I'd rather have a size smaller. The only problem is that this is the smallest size that comes with the locking ring. The handle is rounder than I would like for pocket carry, so I am modifying the shape to my preference and the wood has been easy to work with so far. If I lose this one, I will buy another without question.

Budget Lightweight Slicer

This knife weighs almost nothing, and it slices better than much more expensive folders. I doubt it will stand up to hard use, but it’s a great letter opener or addition to the lunch box. I will probably get a No.8 for some larger tasks. The Opinel line is hard to beat for the price.

The design vintage and sheer utility make this a good gift. Gave it to a friend at christmas and it was his first knife. He now EDCs it.

Odd but not bad

Hard to kow how to rate this one. It is an odd, cheap little knife. There's really nothing wrong with it but there's not much to rave over either. I has a different rotating bezel that works as a lock. The blade is quite thin but quite sharp. I suppose you could whittle with it. I use it as a novelty letter opener, for that purpose, it works just fine. I can see it used to peel an apple or an orange on a pic-nic. It's French, what can I say?

Poor Craftsmanship

I received this knife in the mail today and the lock is very loose and the blade had nicks along it. I own several larger Opinel knives that are very well made. This knife is no where near the quality of the others. I purchased this smaller knife to carry in my pocket and to cut fruit. I guess the cheaper ones don't get the attention to detail that the no. 8 gets. What a shame.
