The size of the stone was my first consideration. I also wanted a good polishing stone and this supposed my expectations. As I said it is a polishing stone. It will smooth out the striations (scratch marks) left on the edge of your blade after sharpening with stones of a lesser grit. The storage box will keep the stone damage free for years with adequate care. It comes with pre-beveled edges to keep from marring the face of the blade. very easy to use.
