The best esee3

The best esee3. The others are good of course and i own 2 of them. This one was my 3rd and the blade material and handle material make it worth the increase price over the the normal 3. Blade was shaving sharp out of the box the slight swell in the scales fills your hand better than the flat micarta scales. The s35vn may not be as tough as the 1095 but in a blade this size thats a not issue imo for the increase in edge retention and weather resistance.

My favorite ESEE (so far)

I had wanted an ESEE 4 for awhile now, but decided to pick up an ESEE 3 in S35VN as a lighter option while hiking/backpacking. Now, as much as I still want an ESEE 4, I'm not sure I can justify buying one (I mean I probably still will, but I certainly don't really "need" it). I also added some Knife Connection blue G10 handles for it, and it's even better. For me, the 3 is pretty much the ideal knife. Great ergonomics and feel for my size medium hands, razor sharp from the factory, the 1/8 inch thick blade is an amazing slicer, and the overall size lends to great dexterity with the knife. I know some people complain about a finger choil being on a smaller knife, but in reality, it only takes up approx 1/8th of an inch, so it's a non-issue. Is this a "do everything" outdoors knife? Of course not - but combined with a hatchet and/or folding saw, this will handle what you realistically need from a knife. Also, if you have hands like Andre the Giant, you'll want to get some extended handles for it.

Perfect utility

Perfect utility blade for fishing and or around the property. I am not a huge fan of the sheath (personal preference) but there are plenty of aftermarket options and it is not a bad sheath. This knife sits with my outdoor gear and i would not hesitate to abuse it as much as i do my 3-500$ fixed blades. Somehow beefy and compact at the same time and razor sharp from the factory.
