ESEE 6 - Totally Rocks

This ESEE 6 knife is top quality and made by skilled craftsmen. It can slice, dice, chop, and cut through practically anything with relative ease. The weight and balance of this knife is outstanding! In my book, the ultimate survival knife! This USAF Veteran highly recommends!

ESEE 6

comes super sharp and is a rather heavy knife for lighter tasks but that heaviness gives it a feeling of ultimate durability. The handle is incredibly comfortable and the blade shape has good belly as well as a reasonable length straight edge for light chopping etc. The sheath has great retention, but I feel like it would dull the edge with repeated use. All in all a very impressive knife, got to hold it in your hand to believe the exceptional balance and fit that ESEE has given to this knife

Phenomenal

This Esee-6 is just awesome. From the moment I first held it I knew that it was only knife I'd need from now on. Perfect weight and balance, it just feels like top quality. Works great in the field, and you know that with care it will last you the rest of your days. I can't recommend highly enough.

Bad to the bone

I use this knife for hiking, camping, food prep, and whatever other need that may arise. It is perfectly balanced and razor sharp. It also holds it's edge for a long time. I couldn't be happier with it. Love the molded sheath also.

Great Quality

Fantastic blade! Took me about a month to get because KC was out of stock, but regardless, it is well worth the wait. This knife is one of the finest made tools I've had the pleasure of holding, let alone own. My only beef is the sheath material is made of plastic, I would have preferred kydex. I plan on making a custom leather sheath for it in the future, so no biggy.

Trusted companion

I've had my ESEE-6 long enough to have forgotten how long I've had it, but suffice to say it's been around the block a few times as my main "big 'ol knife" on dozens of deep backcountry camping trips and long distance bike tours. It's well made, feels great in the hand, and has held up to a lot of use where an axe would have been more appropriate. After years of beating on it the only sign of damage is a bit of the coating worn off of the blade near the tip. Despite it's large size it still handles more delicate tasks like food prep or feather sticks thanks to it's well shaped handle and ability to hold a good edge. When paired with a good folder in the pocket, I feel like I've got my bases covered. And when something is rustling in the woods at night, it's nice to have under the pillow. The cost may seem daunting, but it's a perfect example of you get what you pay for and/or buy once cry once. I expect this knife to be my go to for years to come. As is noted, it does require extra care to prevent rust compared to other steels, but it's a minimal effort. The high cost has been sufficient motivation to properly care for my investment.

Reliable, durable, almost perfect!

I didn't use it for long, only 3 weeks but I can tell you that's a true unbreakable monster! The handle wasn't 100% perfect but 20mn of work on the handle change it as 100% ! I's tried id before buying it so I knew I would have to modify the handle. It's better to have as default, bigger handle than smaller one coz U can modify it ;) (it's the case for ESEE 6) The onliest problem is the rust, but it's the same probleme for allmost all strong knives, just need to keep in maind to use old and dry it each time it's exposed to water. My top 1 knife by now! Very fast delivery from KnifeCenter, thanks a lots guys! (from USA to France)

Best knife I have ever owned.

I have owned this knife for about 6 months and put it through its paces. I no longer carry a hatchet on backpacking trips because the abilities to baton, feather and chop wood with this knife handles all of my processing needs. I honestly haven't done a ton of chopping with the knife, but have had good experiences in the few times I have had to chop light wood. I batonned 3 days worth of firewood exclusively with this knife and it was still sharp enough to nicely feather wood on the last day. The edge holding ability is quite impressive and I have had no problems with sharpening. I cannot speak highly enough of the resilience and overall toughness the ESEE 6. The knife feels very solid, has nice weight for chopping but carries well on a waist sheath. I did read prior to owning the knife that the handle is a bit rough on the bare hand. I wouldn't say this is a deal breaker, I wore a good pair of work gloved while processing wood, but have used it bare handed and had no problems. The shape and feel of the handle is very ergonomic and easy to control. The jimping and finger choil is really nice when feathering and honestly, the big blade feels very controllable and unobtrusive in use. Combined with the incredible warranty, you will be very hard pressed to find a better knife to have by your side for backpacking, camping or any other use you can think of. I trust this knife for anything I need to do in the bush and it has performed flawlessly so far. If you're thinking about investing in a great knife for any of the uses I have stated above, you have found your winner in the ESEE 6.

Esse 6P-B

This is the knife you want! I received this knife today and I already have cut pretty much everything in the house ;) No seriously this is an awesome knife, came rasor sharped with all the part. Okay the price is maybe a bit expensive, but if you're looking for a knife that will never let you down, it totaly worth it! The only problem for me is the sheath, which is in plastic (not kydex) and seems to be a bit cheap... To be continued for that. The handle fit really nice and the weight is pretty good for every task you'll do with... Highly recommended! P.S. sorry for that poor english, it's not my first language, but at least I tried!

Just perfect

I bought this to be my new primary knife for all around hunting, camping, fishing, bushcrafting, and survivalist uses. It arrived today in the mail - typical FAST shipping from Knifecenter - and my initial impressions are WOW. It has the look, fit and finish almost comparable to a custom. Edge is scary sharp. It has an odd balance to it: it feels like a quick agile fighting knife and yet at the same time feels like a rugged heavy duty working tool. I've already used it in the kitchen and it also serves the role of a butcher knife, very well. The size, weight, and balance are all just perfect. It was everything I was expecting and more.

Buy once, cry once

I was on the fence about this knife given that the nearly identical Ontario RAT 7 could be had a nontrivial discount, but I listened to David C. Anderson's advice and spent the extra cash. Boy am I glad I did. My nephew and I are avid bushcrafters and after a weekend of making bark cordage, fire building, and deadfall trap making and setting, it became immediately obvious that the details made all the difference. The difference in the fit and finish become most noticeable when chopping and batoning, but even when doing delicate tasks like notching and making feather sticks, the ease with which the knife indexes to the proper grip makes it an extension of your hand. So far, it has been a constant pack companion for three years and has come in handy often enough when I wasn't expecting it to warrant it continuing to be a constant carry. Between it and my Izula II, I pretty much have the tool set for 99% of my outdoor cutting tasks covered.

Very nice knife. I have had the knife for about a month now and it is the best knife I have used yet. It is heavier than it looks but that makes it great for light chopping. The handles are very comfortable. Very good on the belt.

Solid bushcraft knife

Aside from the Micarta handles that could probably be executed a bit better, it’s a solid, basic knife that will last a lifetime if cared for.

great fixed blade

i bought this knife mostly based on aesthetics and other peoples reviews, so pls take with a grain of salt the weight is nicely balanced at the first bolt behind the guard and provides you with the sense of agility and nimbleness. the overall quality/fit and finish is also very good, no sharp corners, the scales line up perfectly with the tang and the laser engravings are clear i thought i would've liked the micarta scales more (have not tried them wet), but in the dry, they seem kinda slippery. perhaps a smooth G10 would've been a better choice for me. also i have large and skinny hands, so the contours dont work the best for me. the blade is 1095 carbon steel and from what i know, it holds an edge well, not for the longest, but in return its easy to re-sharpen. it comes from the factory decently sharp. the sheath is good too, nice and secure fit with no snaps, lock etc necessary. the sheath would be poorly suited for tactical/stealthy use however, as it is impossible to re-sheath the knife without it making a loud pop against the sheath when going back in

Fair and useful camp knife

Knife came with grease on handle apparently from manufacturer. Other than it being a good price for the type use I give it it makes it a good bargain and I would definitely purchase again...grease or not. Case has great retention, color and blade protection. Keep in mind it's a big knife and I'm a medium sized guy.

Save your money

I really wanted to like the Esee 6: great steel, warranty, USA made, and everyone loves a good choil right? The fatal problem with this knife is bad ergonomics. The handle is blocky, lacks a good palm swell and is uncomfortable to use. You can have the best steel, blade design and warranty but if the handle is not designed well, the knife will be nearly worthless as a tool. Also their customer service is horrible. Skip this one and save your money.
