Rivals my trusty K-Bar
I’ve only ever carried my K-Bar since the late 90’s. My brother gave this knife to me over a year ago, and I have been very pleased with it. This is a very capable knife to carry on the chest rig when you’re maneuvering out in the stix, as it is not only durable, but very versatile; capable of split/chopping wood, striking fires, and cutting up just about anything. Two “cons”, and minor ones at that: 1- the sheath is great, except it’s BLACK. I tried painting it, but the material doesn’t hold the paint well and scrapes off quickly. Not a big deal, but I’d like a different color option. 2- the blade is great and tough. This is more of an observation than a criticism: Although I have no trouble sharpening it, it doesn’t have a bevel like my K-bar. I like having the obvious bevel to lock into during sharpening, and the edge holds a bit better/longer that way. Of course, it’s the mechanics of the knife. You can’t make two different design styles into one knife. Ultimately, it’s a pretty even competition with my K-Bar. And that’s also considering I’ve trusted my my SAME k-bar for over 20 years. Buy one.
