One of the best folders I have bought in a long time.

I bought this blade for an edc and I am very, very pleased with it. The nested front liner gives it a ultra thin profile while not sacrificing any strength whatsoever, the frame lock locks up solid with no play, the 1/8 inch thick AUS 8 blade deploys smooth as silk and holds a super fine edge, and the gimping along with the really comfortable handle design give you a solid purchase on the knife. The G10 is just grippy enough to feel solid in hand but not so aggressive as to tear up your pocket and the stone wash is one of the most attractive I have ever seen. If your looking for an affordable, stout, light weight, comfortable, effective edc blade, you just found it.

One of my favorite folding knife purchases...

I have owned, and carried, many folding knives for over 20 years...Victorinox, Buck, Cold Steel, Case, etc, etc...the Esee Avispa is one of my favorites. Here’s why......large handle...I have larger hands, so I prefer folders with at least a 4.5” handle (this one is 5”)...solid lockup...the Avispa I rec’d is at least 50% lockup, if not closer to 75%...tough blade steel...the D2 I have had experience with is a very tough steel...affordable...comparing this folder to others I’ve purchased, I feel it could cost much more...glad it doesn’t...great Esee warranty...anything ever happens, ever, ship it to them and they’ll repair or replace All in all, I see myself carrying, and using this knife, for a long time

Ok for the price

I had this for two months than one day I noticed blade play, upon further inspection I noticed that the frame lock was bent...... This was just from opening and closing the knife , I edc it it the city so no carving or anything either ..... I'm kinda disappointed

Solid knife, dissapointing design work.

Love the Zancudo and was excited to get a larger version. This ain't it. The Avispa is a frame lock drop point RAT1. A good solid knife, but another big clunky knife. Poor design work in fitting the Zancudo shape blade to the RAT shaped handle. When closed the blade sticks out a lot more than necessary. Fit and finish, lock up, deployment, blade centering.. all excellent. Just a cop out in the design. Dear ESEE/BRK if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Bugs Me Less Than the Zancudo

F&F are good. The blade is centered. This is very difficult to open with the left hand; closure is OK. The ergos are acceptable. Opening is not easy when the blade is tightened sufficiently to be stabilized. I like the RAT-1 much more. The jimping is minimalist and does not provide much traction. For the money, I don't have any regrets. I doubt that it will ever see the dark of pocket.
