For an inexpensive edc this is about perfect, I always carry 2 blades, one nicer high end production and a beater. Fits the bill perfectly, mine flicks like a rat, just as easy to unlock, has much better ergos in hand for me, thinner and the d2 is done well. Ordered another coyote brown and a carbon version.

Blade material. That's it. If you don't want to sharpen your knife every damn time you open a package, get harder steel. The D2 version of this knife holds an edge better than anything until you get into $150+ blade steels. I can't bring myself to spend 150 bucks on a pocket knife. I'm just not that cool. I don't care about handle feel, weight, locking mechanism, or pretty pretty princess dolls as long as it fits in my pocket and holds up to reasonable abuse. Haven't found a better value than this yet.

Got the version with camouflage scales. The knife often stays in my rotation longer because of the practical blade shape and easy deployment. Lockup is rock solid as is the knife in general. Liked it so much I got one for my dad.

Bought it based on how much I like the AUS-8 Avispa and despite the negative reviews that the action was very stiff. They must have worked out the stiffness because mine opens nicely. The weight feels good in my hand, too. The steel arrived quite sharp and took a very nice polished edge on my Arkansas stones. Nice little knife I will enjoy.

I have had the d2 version for for almost a year and still love this high value budget knife, have given as gift and will pick up more. Still like it more then the rat2 though it is a good knife as well, just not as good in hand as zancudo for me. Have boight multiples and will buy more. If it is difficult to open and close due to lock bar tension just adjust it by decreasing the tension, you do not have to take apart to do as there is no lock bar stop, just do it in small increments so you do not over do it or you will have to take apart to fix that. Is this knife perfect...no, but its a budget knife with decent steel and worth every penny imo. Have bought several and all were good, one had stiff lock bar tension and after adjusting is great, my son took that one from me lol. Will picknnup a fes more.

Like the strong detent
This is my EDC and takes a keen edge easily. I like the less-menacing blade profile, but most of all I like how it KEEPS SHUT after you close it. Yes, it needs a firm thumb-stroke to open, but flies open and locks tightly every time. The only thing I'd change is to put a little bevel or radius on the G10 and stainless for the lanyard hole, which I did. I was afraid the one-side scale might be slippery, but I have had no problems with that.

I don't like the ergos. It is thin and feels cheap. Openings is so-so. Lock up is good. It's not a horrible knife. I just don't care for it. I don't think that it will see the light of day or the dark of pocket. If you want a D2 blade, this is a cheap method of acquisition. If you are considering this, I strongly urge to to handle one first. You might love it. Then it would be a bargain.

Good for the price
This knife can get razor sharp really easily but I just can't carry it all the time. The lock is extremely stuff and almost unsafe for to the pressure needed to open it. The pocket clip is acceptable and the frame lock is hard to operate with one hand. It seems that it it's not a positive trait, it's negative. Got it cheap and still a little disappointed. ESEE should stick to their fixed blades.

Good Blade, Hard to Open
The detent keeping it shut is absurdly stiff. It makes it slow to open and has given me an odd callous on my thumb. The thumbstud is assymetrical, so on mine it's even shorter on the left side making it even harder to open left handed. Blade is excellent for the price. absolutely the best I've found. Handle is slim enough to fit easily into the pocket. The clip works fine. Just a shame that it's so hard to open and close.

Disappointed
I like the blade steel, D2, and the shape of the blade, but that's about it. Very stiff to operate, even after an extensive break in period. The liner lock works well sometimes and other times it takes significant force to release. I bought this knife with the understanding that it was very similar to the Ontario Rat 2. The Rat 2 is a far better knife despite it has inferior AUS-8 steel. Maybe I got a bad one but I would not recommend this knife. It's a shame because it is a great size, weight and looks good. I really wanted to like this knife.

This knife is disappointing despite buying it just for the purpose of saving my other knives from the torture it would endure. The size, weight, and feel are just fine, but this thing is extremely hard to operate with one had. The thumb stud leaves your finger sore after a day of use, the blade is tight to open and when you push hard enough will slide too far and cause you to cut yourself. If you want to flick this blade out without looking like a crazy person, good luck. The pocket clip is spotty and the knife will come loose at times when I sit down. The D2 Sharpens nicely, and holds up well enough. The lock is rather tight as well and contribute to that sore thumb I mentioned earlier. In closing, just buy a RAT in D2 and save yourself the trouble.

You cannot open this knife one handed, the detent is WAY too deep. Really disappointed in that aspect. I tried filing it down but, whatever it’s made out of, I don’t think any material came off of it. About to take a grinder to it! The blade and handle and materials are very nice. The pocket clip is very nice and easy to use- good design. Looks and feels great. I’ve been trying to break it in for a week now to no avail. Would NOT recommend due to the detent retention.
