Pleased with my first ESEE
Well made knife, good blade design for my needs. I work full time on a ranch and have been using this knife as my edc. Using it for day to day cutting task plus skinning while guiding since I purchased it. Knife was sharpened well from the factory, I had no need to sharpen it further out of the box. I have cleaned over 30 animals with it now in the last couple months ranging from whitetail to hogs to large and small exotics. Pleased with its overall performance, edge retention is satisfactory, I can usually get through 3-4 animals before needing to touch it up. Blade sharpens easy enough. G10 scales have a good shape and do fine with bloody or sweaty hands (first time I’ve owned G10). Knife cleans up well and blade shows no rust spots or staining/discoloration after several scrubbing washes and rinses. Finish on blade does show marks and wear from use more than other blade finishes I own but nothing that’s offensively ugly or concerning. Sheath that came with it is better quality than I was expecting for a plastic sheath and the belt clip is plenty strong. I prefer to carry horizontal so I had a kydex sheath made for it but the included sheath works fine. No real negatives to speak of, I am pleased and this is a better knife than I was expecting at the price point. Suites my needs and does what I bought it to do well. Got my eye on a couple more ESEE knives that I’ll buy when they get released based on my experience with the xancudo.
