I went with the 24" with the pewter core and even though it only added 2-3oz, on a 24" stick it gives it the extra oomph, and something "special" for the collection. The 24" is long enough that you can do a close two handed grip, but even single handed it's still reasonably manoeuvrable - of course much less than a rattan stick. Finish on the stick is an excellent non-slip, non-varnished, and without all the unnecessary grooves and ridges seen on many "night sticks". Grip diameter is also a good fit for my medium hand. Balance point with the pewter core is about 8.5" from the top end. Overall very happy with the stick - I am sure the standard 24" is "good enough" but the pewter core is just the icing on the cake. A very elegant simple design, that will definitely hit like the proverbial ton of bricks!
