Truly Amazing

Gotta love folk who get a dud and don't wait until Knifecenter sends a replacement to leave an idiotic review. These entry level Shirogorovs routinely put Chris Reeve knives to shame when it comes to a knife being purely and unequivocally a knife. I have 11 Shirogorovs, ranging from an equivalent model as this from Monkey Edge to a custom division, and I have yet to run into fit/finish or functional issues. I imagine a good number of the weak thumbed type are pressing on the lock bar and making it even more difficult to deploy a brand new, extremely tight tolerance Quantum. Gotta keep off the lock bar. These knives take second to wear in. They're also built to last so lock up tends to be on the lower side, like 15-20%. This means that they'll move towards 30-35% after regular use as the steel wears; you'll be able to regularly use this knife and pass it down as an heirloom. I highly recommend this knife, unless you're going to use it like Rambo and baton logs, or cut nails with it, or any of the other stupid stuff YouTubers do to knives.

Great value!

Got this knife because I've been wanting one from this maker for a while. I really like the blade profile on these, the edge is almost all belly. The titanium frame is beefy, and the KC exclusive orange coral pattern micarta lends a nice accent. The lockup is like a bank vault, and flipping the blade open is very pleasing, almost feels like an assist, but it isn't. The blade is centered perfectly when closed, and there is NO play when open. The machined clip functions well, while its hidden attaching screws give the knife a very clean look. Not familiar with the blade steel, but have heard good things, so I'm interested to see how it performs. Like most all frame lock's, you need to make sure you're not applying any pressure on the lock bar with your fingers when opening, or you'll be holding the detent in, and it will be difficult if not impossible to open. The clip on this one is long enough I can place my three 'holding' fingers it, while using my index finger to operate the flipper. I contacted KC before ordering because the video says it has a single row bearing system, and the specifications say Multi Row Bearing System. They quickly responded saying they were single row at the time the video was made, but the new ones they're receiving are Multi Row. Got the knife today, and it is indeed Multi Row {marked MRBS on the accompanying certificate of authenticity, and inside the frame as well). That makes it a no-brainer at the current sale price. Looking forward to adding it to my daily carry rotation!

Quality Flipper!

One of my favorite edc knives! I own some decent knives. ZT,Hinderer’s, Chris Reeve, Demco’s ect. The ursus quantum somehow ends up in my pocket the most. It’s a large knife but carries smaller. Slim profile,one of the best actions I’ve ever had in a flipper as long as you keep your fingers off the lock bar. I know it’s on a single row bearing pivot compared to the upper end Shiros but it’s near perfect. In the 600 dollar price range it’s going to be hard to match in my opinion. If you are looking to up your game in higher end flipper without trading your car for I would definitely recommend.

I’ve owned everything from Hation’s to Shiro collabs and this holds it’s own. It’s not as fluid or hydraulic as their mbrs system, but it’s very good. I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Bad quality control and a terrible waste of money!

I cannot in good conscience give this knife a 1 star rating because of what it is but I also can’t justify giving it more than 2. Unfortunately, this knife offers absolutely nothing that any other production knife which would cost $250 would offer. This does not use the famous double row bearings, this does not include any of the fancy milling, absolutely nothing about this stands out above any high end production knife. There are people who will respond that this is only a production knife, not one of the customs (which I have handled and it was fantastic). To that I say, if you’re not going to offer anything beyond a typical production knife then don’t charge more for it. I’ll start with the pros: this is very obviously a high end knife with a great design and a great fit and finish. It’s definitely built to last. The blade is fantastic, this is an excellent slicer. The cons: This knife has a terribly strong detent, again I’m aware that Shirogorov knives are known for this, but this is the strongest detent out of every knife I own and that is after I spent a couple hours breaking it in. The final nail in the coffin and the reason I am giving this such a low rating is the knife actually arrived with a defective lock. Once again, I am aware that Shirogorov knives are known to have low lock up (15-20% maybe) but the lock on my knife literally failed to engage. I was able to close it by just pushing on the blade. That is inexcusable and very dangerous. KnifeCenter made it right and replaced the knife no problem, but the fact that a $625 knife left the factory with a defective lock is disgraceful. Especially since Shirogorov is known for making the absolute best knives. I would have given this knife 4 stars but the fact that quality control is an issue at this price point is astonishing.
