Big Fella
I just recently purchased a KM1 after having it recommended by a friend who also has one, my job consists of walking the main high pressure gas line through some extremely rugged back country, swamps, steep terrain, river crossings and traversing through under growth and thick bush here in New Zealand. This tool has proved itself to be an extremely valuable asset when cutting and clearing tracks through thick scrub, under growth and bush, i have had "other" machetes (quite a few in fact) break, blade twist or split and chip, or handles just fall off on me in situations where we have needed them to perform, the KM1 has not failed me and has proven to be a reliable mainstay of my field survival kit and shall remain so for a long time to come. The handle grip is well designed with the palm swell positioned for maximum grip in all weather conditions (including very hot days when my hands would sweat), the blade is shaped with the right amount of curve to get through some thick under growth, i can only imagine the holes in the top of the blade are there to reduce the overall weight, other wise i have yet to find a use for them, the sheath is absolutely great and a well thought out design, i used the shoulder strap to wrap around my field kit and secured the KM1 (or as i call it, "the big fella") to my bag or daypack, the smaller leg holster type straps i have used to secure other things to my kit, very useful indeed. It has come to the point where even if i go for a short day hike with the family i will bring the "Big fella" with me, i have come to rely on it and have had no troubles with it at all, great design, great blade, and great value, i feel as though i have ripped schrade off given the low price asked for such a high quality tool.... I highly recommend this product to anyone serious about outdoorsmanship
