This is an EXTREMELY sharp, super nice knife. Great size, flips nicely, really like the different lock and is keeping its edge. Very happy with the knife and would definitely consider picking up another Sandrin knife!!

Excellent little rustproof knife - but don't count on Sandrin

Was really looking forward to this. I work in undersea acoustics, so a rustproof, sharp knife is part of safety gear. Ordered from KnifeCenter. Arrived very dull - wouldn't cut paper. Under loupe found many 20-50 micron microchips. Filled out form for warranty from Sandrin, and also contacted KnifeCenter. Sandrin never responded at all. KnifeCenter quickly suggested I return the knife for refund or replacement. They even sent me a postpaid label. Sent it back with appropriate paperwork. 2 days after receipt, KnifeCenter sent out a brand new one. This one is razor-sharp. Thank you, KnifeCenter. I will not be relying on Sandrin for sharpening - but will trust their advice using lapping tape and fixed-angle sharpening. Hopefully, I won't find out how well that works for another year or two. Materials are primo. The lock is a little... meh. And a bit tricky to operate with gloves.

Awsome Knife

The Fit and Finish of this Knife is top, absolutley no Blade play, very smooth Action and perfect Size for EDC. I also like the locking mechanism and to play with it, its possible to oben and close it by push the Lockbar with the Fingernail. The Blade itself is sharp like a Rockstead and cuts even better because it is very thin. I use it for normal EDC Tasks, just would like if it had a Lanyard Hole. The Pocket Clip could be a bit stiffer, but works very well.

Magnum Opus

I’ve had this knife for over a month now and it has become my favorite knife of all time. It’s frighteningly sharp, looks great, totally ambidextrous and it is just…..different. The thumb studs work fine for opening, but you can also use the tip of your index finger to push down on the recoil lock mechanism on back of knife, while the blade is pointed at the ground, to OPEN the blade too. . Use the pad of your thumb to ‘slide’ the recoil mechanism down to close rather than index finger (saw a sore index finger being compliant when closing the knife). The recoil mechanisms red color gives it such a cool look and it’s easy to use to open or close the blade, unlike what others have said. The large choil keeps finger away from blade and safe from gashes while closing. Others complained about the blade finish, it’s a matter of opinion, but I LOVE it too, the used look makes it much easier to put to use. I can’t stop carrying this knife. A bit pricey, but it is well worth it and I have no regrets at all.

Screaming sharp, well crafted.

Wow! I have a very large collection and this is a very impressive knife. By FAR the sharpest factory edge of anything I have ever owned (CRK, Benchmade, William Henry, Moki, etc.). The fact that it is rust-proof is a big bonus. Light and comfortable to grip and it slices like a dream. The lock is really easy to operate and I am not having the issue that others have reported. I trimmed my nails the day before and had no problems. My only concern is that TwC is very brittle, so I wouldn't be surprised if knife abusers snap the tip off or even break the blade. ZDP-189 is notorious for that. Obviously, the designers thought about that and went with a sheepsfoot blade. Truly ambidextrous is a plus for anyone, but especially lefties. Although it's on the high side for price for this type of knife, it's not unreasonable.

Quirky and Cool

I've been playing with this since the UPS man left an hour ago, so this is a pretty short-term review. It is more beautiful in person than in the photos. Slim and comfortable in hand. The recoil lock is unique, and works very well. The action is a bit gritty, but since it is on bearings, I expect it will smooth out quickly. And finally, DAMN this thing is sharp, with a great double-grind.

Unlock improvement

It's a perfect daily carry knife. Slim comfortable and light. Had trouble operating the recoil lock due to too much spring pressure so I opened the knife and cut off 1-1/2 turns of the spring. Now it is a pleasure to use. The action has become smoother and the unlatch is nice.

This thing cuts anything

This is a strange one but I like it a lot. I work as electrician and even though this is a rather small light knife the blade makes quick work of just about anything. Bit overpriced (maybe) it all depends how long it keeps slicing and dicing. Sharpening may also be interesting but I’ll probably figure it out. This lock I also pretty cool although not for gloves. I also had trouble with the pocket clip a couple times my knife skittered across the floor when removing something else from my pocket. This really rides on edge retention and durability, if it can hold up I’ll be very happy! Oh that lock is a little Sharky no?

Recoil lock could be improved

OK so disclaimer I do love this knife however when you actually actuate the lock… after a while it hurts your pointer finger. I believe Sandaren should go back to the drawing board and come up with some sort of way to make the actuation of the lock a lot smoother and gentler on your hands, otherwise this is an excellent knife and I do love it!!!

Unlock Un-usable

The perfect knife for in pocket carry, light, slim easy to open and very sharp. Love the Carbon Fiber handles and the tungsten blade. HOWEVER, the lock is lacking functionality. The spring is so tight that the only way I can get it to fully disengage the lock is to put a 90 degree pick into the back slot and pull with two hands. Pulling back on the lock with the pad of the finger tears skin and using the fingernail breaks the nail. Maybe less force on the lock would allow it to fail at a lower value, but a lock only needs to be strong enough to withstand a few pounds of closing force to be safe. I'll take it apart, shorten the spring and report back.

Very sharp and stays sharp until it chips.

This is a great knife but it has some easily rectified flaws. The screw on the hinge falls out after a year or so. The blade is insanely sharp and keeps its edge but it is very brittle and eventually chips to the point of being dull. These are things I can live with because the knife is so good. The problem I have is that Sandrin on their website says they will sharpen and repair these knives, but they do not respond to emails. It is a very frustrating experience to try and get your knife fixed or sharpened.

Great knife - significant QC/QA issues

First one I received was dull and had microchips in the edge. Second one is razor-sharp. Beautiful CF handles. Deploys beautifully. Nice balance. The lock is unusual, and not quite what I'd like in closing. You really need to release the lock with your finger in the way of the choil, so it always falls on your finger, then close from there. A minor nuisance. Trying to use the lock with your finger out of the way is difficult. The BIG issue with second knife is QA/QC of the assembly. I carried the knife a half-dozen times, really liking it. Just received my new Wiha mini-torx driver and wanted to check fit of the bits. That's when I made the unhappy discovery. No loctite on the clip screw or the two screws that hold the lock in place. And those screws were all loose and backing out. Could easily have lost the clip and at least one of the lock screws. Not cool. Took the two minutes to correctly loctite (blue) and torque (very loose for the lock screws) to proper operation and lower likelihood of losing screws. If you buy one: inspect those screws for proper installation.
