Best all-around sharpener
I have been using this for probably about 10 years now. It has become my favorite, and is the primary sharpener I use at home. I have used this on knives of all sizes from 1.5 inch to 18 inch blades, kitchen knives to machetes, and kukris with their double radius edges. The diamond hone also works well on axes and tomahawks. Carbon steel is a breeze to sharpen, while stainless takes a little longer. It's compact and fits easily in a crowded kitchen drawer. It must be safe and foolproof, because I have never cut myself while using it. I mostly use the ceramic rods for touching up kitchen knives and pocket knives. The diamond hone restores an edge quickly to a seriously dull blade, and I use the carbide inserts on dinged or damaged edges to quickly restore the edge bevel. It's the best, easiest, and most effective sharpener I have used. I use water on the diamond hone to float the cuttings - much easier cleanup than oil. I also clean the ceramic rods and the diamond surface with a big pink pencil eraser. Very effective. I wrote this review while here buying two more for my grown children.
