Very Very Good!

I put very sharp edges on 2 inexpensive folding pocket knives that I had previously sharpened using a different carbide sharpener. Using very light pr I was able to to double and triple the sharpness of these two blades. I like to have a a reasonably sharp blade, and this Pocket Pal sharpener did the job efficiently in a short time. I know how to hone a blade, but, with htis sharpener, I won't need to hone much for general knife use.

Well done

Use for quick refresh of knives in the field, fishing, etc. when my bench equipment not available. Does the job exceptionally well. Have tried other "convenient sharpening devices", they don't compare.

Great little field sharpener or for the car / office

For the money, this is an awesome product. This shouldn't be your primary knife sharpener, but gets the job done if you need a small sharpener for the filed, to keep in the car, office, etc. I haven't been able to get my knives sharp enough to shave with this, but it is a good little back-up sharpener. It is a good product and with a little practice you can get good at using it on a variety of blade shapes. Great buy for the money.

A must have....everywhere.!

Used mostly to keep a sharp edge on all my knives, this is an efficient, simple and very effective tool. It travels well, boating, fishing, camping, hunting are always requiring a sharp knife...this is the tool that will assure they are sharp.

Great For Sharpening Knives On The Go.

Finally a small pocket sharpener that handles serrated blades. Puts a decent edge on a knife well in the field if you do not have time for stones or rods. I also own a few of these and keep them about the house and one in my pocket.

AWSOME

Sharpens things up very quickly and efficiently. Used mine alot in the last few weeks, whole family wants me to sharpen their knives. Works differently on different metals, you might have to apply a bit more pressure on some knives. It will get it done !!!!!!!!!!!

Smith's "Pocket Pal" Knife Sharpener

I have these stashed just about everywhere, plus I carry one in my pocket everyday. My sharpening strategy has been to put a 30∘angle on all my field knives, folding and fixed blade. After that, the Pocket Pal will give me a quick touch-up anytime I need it. The carbide blades will take care of major damage pretty quickly and the ceramic side gives a decent edge. Not quite as good as I can get at home with ceramic rods, but plenty sharp enough to get back in business. The diamond rod works well for serrated edges as well as many other small filing jobs in everyday life.

Handy

Handy little sharpener that does a decent job of bringing your blades back to "Sharp-ish". I say "Sharp-ish" because this will not make a knife razor sharp. It is small and easy to use however, so it's a great field tool. If you are sharpening at home, you may want to use another method if you like your knives "shaving sharp".

a good little Sharpener

This multi purpose sharperner is pratical, it can easely be placed Inside a tool kit, glove box or even your jeans pockets. It feature both carbide and ceramic sharpeners(both are replacable) as well as the rod that allow the sharpening of serrated blades. I keep this as a backup incase I break of lose my sharpening stone or just need a quick sharpening.

No Success

I originally got this sharpener because it had good reviews (mostly). But I have never had success with it. It does "sharpen" a knife, but not good enough in my mind to call it a good product. I did give it a chance. I was excited to get it at first, but am dissatisfied and no longer use it. I now use a stone instead. If my mind changes at some point, so many this review. My .02
