Update to my prior review

Wanted to update my prior review to a "3" from a "1" on account of Knife Center's excellent customer service which responded to my review by authorizing a return and a replacement even though I had not saved the packaging. They even adjusted the price downward on the replacement to match the updated list price on their web site. Way to go, Knife Center!

Very Disappointed

Already owning several assisted opening knives (3 of them from SOG), I was looking forward to this one. When I opening the package I was pleased by the weight and balance and the feel of the handle, etc.. My disappointment set in as soon as I closed the knife and attempted to open it with the thumb stud. I simply could not get it open with either hand (and yes, the safety was off). I ended up having the grasp the blade with one hand and the handle with the other and even then it was quite difficult to open. I lubricated it and tried to break it in, but nothing helped in the least. It feels like there is some sort of a defect in the mechanism that catches and sticks when trying to open it. This knife is harder to open with two hands than any knife I own. Pretty much defeats the whole point of assisted opening and even makes two-handed use so frustrating that this will get tossed in a drawer or the garbage since I foolishly broke down and tossed the packaging when I opened it. I won't take another chance on a SOG unless I buy it in a store where I can try it out first. Presumably poor quality control because the design of the knife is very nice on paper. Very disappointed.
