Worthy Investment

My first auto, SOG hit this one out of the park. Excellent price (i.e., Benchmade), rock solid construction - all the fits are perfect - razor sharp, the XR lock / release button operates flawlessly - best of all, it's made in the USA. Makes me proud to own this knife.

Great EDC.

This is my EDC, and I have been carrying it for over a year now. It's not the sharpest knife in the world, but its more than satisfactory, is easy to sharpen and sharp enough to do what it designed for. I use a regular steal to sharpen it so would most definitely get it sharper using other methods. Its super reliable opening and as it lives in my pocket I never have any fear of it opening/unlocking unintentionally, and It hasn't done so. Its compactness is awesome and you almost never feel it in your pocket. Its sits super deep in the pocket and due to the shape of the lip is fairly easy to pull out in a hurry if you needed to. Only negative is that the pocket clip coating wore off slightly after the first month of carrying it as my EDC.

Almost great

I have found the auto open to be a tad slow. The XR Lock is not smooth and needs to be. One should not be able to partially open the knife with XR Lock due to it being "sticky". The rest of knife is very solid. Super thin and refreshingly light, the finish will keep the knife in your hand...you won't have it slip out. I like the idea of the LOCK and the easy opening from a locked position in one simple move (albeit sticky). Brilliant idea. They just need to smooth it out. I'm going to add a touch of oil to see if I can sort out the XR Lock.

Part 2 - Sticky and NOT smooth opening.

The sticky opening continues no matter what I do. It's also a tad stickier if you have the knife in "safe" mode. Also...it really requires a thumb and index finger working in conjunction to open the knife. That's fine once you know...but no review ever indicated that. Yes, Ambidextrous...yet one still needs two fingers gripping on either side at the same time. SOG needs to work on the SMOOTH...because it isn't. It is indeed lite - GREAT. Thin - GREAT. Sharp - GREAT. Good blade...like the handle and the ergonomics of the grip. The SMOOTH is severely lacking ! I have OTS autos and they are super snappy and smooth as silk...not this knife
