Great Overall Combat/Utility Knife

I have put this knife to its breaking points, but it has not failed on me yet. The blade takes and holds an edge EXTREMLY well. The one and only complaint with this knife was the handle. It eats your hand up quickly without gloves on. It would be nice if SOG rubberized the grip a little. A recent test I did on this knife somewhat worried me about the blade snapping. I cut down a 4 inch maple tree and batoned through it like nothing, even when it was close to 5 degrees below zero (F). Great knife for the money.

It's a very good light weight and menuverable WARNING : knife comes sharp, I found out the hard way but all n all a good solid knife

The knife is excellent! Comes very sharp!!! The knife fit perfect in my hand and is the perfect length for everything I would need it for. The sheath has some very nice features also, the option to carry a letherman with u is good and the fact that you can adjust the placement on you belt as in if you want it to hang lower or if u want to half way conceal it u can adjust it to be placed higher which I love! Very nice knife if your looking for a fixed blade knife! Best buy for the money...

Its already been said, this is an ideal camp/utility blade. Really well balanced, very sharp out of the box and easy to resharpen. I wear XL gloves and this knife has enough room to get a full grip. If I had one pick it would be the handle material, its not bad, very grippy but the FRN is just plasticky. If this knife had G10 or better still micarta this would be the total package. All that said, for the money (under $50) from knife center its hard to beat.

Unbeatable little knife on sale

This is an out of the box review. I'll use it some and come back in a while with another one. I got this on sale for under US$50 and at that price it can't be beat. This is not a big knife, but it's a solid light-weight package with a nice grip and a good sheath. The blade is relatively thin but well proportioned and it came out of the box *sharp*. Hair shaving sharp. There's good belly to the blade for slicing cuts and enough serrated portion to be useful. The point is sharp and the geometry looks good. It's not going to stand up to a pounding, and if you lever the point you'll loose it, but this looks like a well thought out blade well executed. The powdercoating is matte but smooth and not lumpy. The grip is hard plastic with deep and slightly sharp diamond checkering that feels like it could get irritating in heavy use. The finger grooves are well spaced and not so deep as to interfere with shifting grip. The nylon sheath feels good, the front pocket is big enough for a multi-tool, or a folding sharpener and some other stuff. It feel stiff and the plastic liner feels solid and holds the knife well, you can invert the sheath without the retaining loop done up and it'll stay even with moderate shaking. The retaining loop is a snap + velcro so it sticks down smooth without any flappy bit sticking out to catch. That's a nice touch. The sheath offers plenty of carry options and appears to be MOLLE compatible if that's your thing. The snap seems solid, and the eyelets are just what you'd expect on a sheath at this price point. At full price, I'd have been fairly happy with this knife. On sale at Knifecenter it's an absolute steal. Get it while it's hot!

I use it for hunting/canoeing/boating/ anytime I'm in the outdoors! Was going to buy a Kabar Next Generation, but a friend of mine"Made me"check out this model. Hardly know it's there, fantastic MOLLE connection, sharp as heck, takes an edge w/o problem. My friend carried one as a medic with the 160th SOAR in Iraq, It saved his life twice, had to cut a "fast rope" once and in hand to hand combat. He loves his, and now I love mine. The best feature of it is that you can abuse it till next week, and the edge pops back. The handle is good, I just wish it was a neoprene type, have both sheaths, prefer the kydex one.

Good light weight knife

This is a good knife for wearing on vest to use as utility (not razor blade box cutter) type knife. Cutting rope, clothing away to preform aid to wounds and so on. It could be used for last effort in CQB situation. It throws nice and will provide you and your buddies hours of entertainment during those slow, times. It would make a good hunting knife I would imagine. It does need to be sharpened more often than some made of other metal, but it does touch up real easy. The sheath is ok, and has pocket where I carry one of my multi tools. I did manage to break off .25 of the blade at the point. I just reshaped it and is all good. This was done by throwing it into old wood really hard. It is not intended to be used as a primary fighting knife, or a pry bar, and don't expect to break locks with it either. Really if you use it for what it is built for there is really no reason to be unhappy with it. There are limits to all tools and there are jobs all good tools do well, you just have to know what they are. With a kydex sheath it would be a fine dive knife, and with proper sheath it would be an awesome boot/leg knife. I know if I have to cut out of my gear this knife will do what I need every time.

This pup knife is slightly thinner than early seki japan-model, longer cutting edge, and no reasonable choke down on the blade, since the unsharpened area is very short. The knife is concave sharpened. In short, it's the redesigned seal production line that's made in Taiwan now days. I did file both the blade and the handle to get the look of the previously seki japan-design. It gets better handling and nicer look in my opinion. Honestly, I think a simple Mora knife is a good competitor to this knife. The seki japan-model was stronger... Simply more of a knife, more survival knife attitude. This "new" design feels a bit tacky in comparison. But it looks good, hope it will hold up as good as it looks.
