SOG Does it Again

Not all SOG knives are five-stars good, and some have been dogs, but they have been very successful with their SEAL Pup Elite style Bowie blades like this Tech Bowie. What stands out first is the FIT & FINISH on this knife. The handle is solid, grippy, and perfectly molds to even XL hands. On the back end, THE POMMEL is extra sturdy to stand up to rigorous hammer blows. The blade is SOG's AUS-8, which has one of the BEST HEAT TREATMENTS of any factory knife brand, and thereby performs more like VG-10, ATS-34, or a similar premium stainless steel. It has a slender BLADE GEOMETRY that makes the knife light and nimble, and able to punch small holes in tough material. Compared to SOG's other survival knife options, the Tech Bowie is on the lighter side, but by no means is it unable to handle the brutality expected of a survival knife. The SHEATH is nothing special, but it is suitable to the rest of the knife: Tight, tough, and easy to carry. OVERALL this is another outstanding offering by SOG.

Too pretty to use!

I love mine. Great fit and finish. Excellent ergos, balance, and grip. Comes sharp, with a needle point. Black titanium nitride finish looks great and is used on end-mills to cut through hard to machine and abrasive metals. Should never wear off. This knife is a bit hard to withdraw and replace in the sheath, but will never fall out.

Awesome Knife!

This knife kicks so much a**, it can chop through trees or cut a path through the woods, it can also skin squirrels and boar with ease. I personally recommend it for almost any use you can think of that AUS-8 steel is some sturdy stuff with great edge retention I've only had to sharpen it once through an entire month of absolute workhorse abuse.

Scary

As several other people here have said, it's to pretty to use. This is the sexy female assassin of combat knives. It feels good in your hand, is well built, well balanced and the finish holds up well. It really has that "solid" feel that only comes from quality. The blade is a full 1/4 inch thick but the hollow grind lets it slice well, and man is it pointy. Function wise, I wish it came in a more matte/tactical finish, and maybe the tip was a little thicker. The only reason I wouldn't recommend it as a service knife, is mine sat in my foot locker for most of my deployment because I didn't want to screw it up, carried my Benchmade 155 SBK instead. (not nearly as pretty, but equally nasty) Anyways, well worth the money as a fighting knife as long as your not going to use it as a pry bar, or drop it on your foot!

I'm not a commando

I love the feel and balance of this knife. It just feels "right". While it's intended purpose is not likely to pop up in my life, you can imagine it when this is in your hand. Extremely solid and well made. I've wanted one for years and am not disappointed. I did modify the sheath as the belt clip is quite bulky.

Flashy excellence!

I don't really use this knife and I mostly bought it as a collector, but I can say it feels great in your hand. It's materials all check out, AUS8 and a Titanium Aluminum Nitride coating make for a strong and beautiful blade, however not necessarily "Tactical" because it is VERY shiny black. In my opinion this knife is a work/camping knife and a collector piece and I'm sure it would be a great field knife but I think there are more practical options for a duty knife (CRKT F.T.W.S, Blackhawk Tatang and Nightedge, and the Cold Steel SRK to name a few). It came shaving sharp for me and has a perfect polished finish with a very grippy handle. It's a very nice looking knife and has thick stock used for the blade so i am sure it can take some abuse, but mine's going to stay safely on display at home :)

Awesome, awesome bowie.

WOW! What a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Not only is this knife a treat aesthetically it also feels just as remarkable and completely natural in your hand. Despite its menacing yet delicate good looks, and being a medium sized fixed blade at just over 6 inches, it more than backs itself up in the field as a good work horse. Thanks knife center for the great service and the best value around. Loving the SOG.

I have this knife on my tactical gear for work and only use it for work applications. So far have'nt used it for cutting or other things, but will be useful for my line of work in law enforcement.

Well Made Knife

I have owned this knife for sometime, but honestly haven't really used it. It is a beautiful knife. I wouldn't suggest buying this for a work knife. It seems much more suited to a tactical knife / military fighting knife. It is one of the sharpest knives out of the box I have ever owned. The tip of the knife is fo fine, it literally made me bleed just from touching it.... almost like a pin prick. Great for penetrating, but seems like the tip would break quick as a work knife. I mostly just admire this knife. It is very well made. If you like this general look / style of knife, but want a more affordable better suited work knife, check out the SOG Gov Tac knife.
