Quickly Becoming My Favorite Spyderco

This is my first Manix but is becoming a favorite in my Salt collection. I have the Salt Military 2, PM2 black, PM2 satin, Sage 5, and Shaman as well. Compared to those, the blade is top notch Spyderco Magacut quality. No sharpening necessary out of the box. Perfectly centered and drop shutty. Slicey like the PM2. Not as hefty as the Shaman but no concerns about heavy use. Great feel in hand, not too large or small. I have larger hands and, for example, prefer the Military 2 over the PM2. The G10 is very grippy and my favorite of the Salt line. I am a saltwater fisherman, saltwater aquarium hobbyist, and work in a chemical plant, so grippiness and corrosion resistance is most important for me. Yes, the lock spring was stiff at first, but it loosened up significantly after a couple weeks of fidgeting. Or maybe I just developed callouses on my thumb and finger. Or both, but either way, it's fine, never needed two hands. Thumb on one side and finger on the other, but that is what I expected. This is not an axis lock, much more solid feeling. I did the titanium ball cage and MXG clip upgrades and am glad I did. All that said, I do admit that getting used to this knife has required more Band-Aids than my other Spyderco's. I find that when operating the compression lock, my fingers naturally move out of the way of the blade swing. With the Manix, I had to learn to be a bit more intentional, not because of the lock stiffness, but because of my finger positioning. Great Knife!

Excellent edc and work knife!

I work in and around water. With all the jimping around the whole thing, it's easy to keep a firm grip even when wet. Being the salt model, it can handle water without any issues. I just rinse it off every time it gets dirty. I've been waiting a LONG time for this exact salt model to be released and I'm so happy to have it. It beats the spy27 model i had! The Manix 2 might be the best Spyderco knife there is. I love the strength of it. The lock is way stronger than their great compression lock. Came with a wicked sharp edge! Somewhere around 15 degrees/side

The perfect Manix

Idk if the other guy got a lemon or if he just doesn’t know how the Manix spring almost always comes stiff out of the box, after replacing the plastic ball cage lock with an aftermarket titanium one it is easy to use with just a single thumb pulling back on it. Came very sharp, definitely one of the sharper ones I’ve opened from spyderco. The handles are nice and grippy, unlike the other guy I view this as a massive positive if using this knife with wet hands (hence the salt lineup). Flicks open nice and smooth, blade was a little stiff out of box but would have broken in very quickly on its own, no blade wobble and blade is centered. Easily jumped into my top 5 favorite spydercos

Love it!

I absolutely love this knife! Spyderco nailed it with this one. I added a Flytanium deep carry pocket clip (just my personal preference) to make it perfect for me. Knife Centers fast shipping and good customer service will keep me coming back for more business.

Spyderco Manix 2 is number 1

I prefer Spyderco knives, and Manix 2 is my favorite, I have three, this the Salt is the latest purchase. I have two Delicas, an Endura and an HI Pacific Salt. Also have an Spyderco automatic. I have been collecting knives since being a Cub Scout, but Spyderco are my go-to knives of choice. They give what I want from a folding knife.

Do not buy this knife

Came plenty sharp, but the blade lock release is unsafe, and requires two hands because the spring is very stiff. Don't see it breaking in enough to be closed one handed. Also, the handle is very grippy, making it hard to remove from pocket.
