Great Value EDC!

As a person who carries a knife every day for various tasks, I was very excited to see that Spyderco was offering a lightweight Manix 2 with such a quality steel. The knife is very comfortable in hand, came very sharp from the factory, and has a very secure lock-up. Throw in the very affordable price for CTS-XHP steel and you've got one of the best values in pocket knives. Highly recommended!

Spyderco Manix

As always - super service on a very nice knife. Arrived in time and SHARP. Nice heft but still surprisingly light. This is now my EDC carry and my Delica resides on the chest strap of my "get home" bag. THANKS as always to KnifeCenter.com

Amazing knife

THis knife is executed flawlessly. It is light enough to carry anywhere, and I do mean that. It is a full size knife that carries better that an older lightweight native i tried out a few weeks back. Locks up solid, made in the USA. Heck yeah!

Great Knife, great steel

I have xl hands, and ergonomically this guy is a gem! Blade came silly sharp. It eats EDC tasks. It sliced through double layer computer boxes like butter. Deploys really easily. It isn't a small knife. If pocket real estate is important to you, you'll notice this guy. It is extremely light, and the pocket clip is great, but it has a wide profile. Still, you are getting a big blade and a very comfortable knife that you can do a lot of work with. Is it worth $89 bucks?... hell yeah!

Near perfection

Let me preface this by saying that I own two other editions of the Manix 2 lightweight. So picking out this version was a pretty easy decision. The knife itself is truly one of, if not the very best EDC blade today. The lock is ridiculously fun to use and the blade shape and grind make it an awesome slicer. Oh, and best pocket clip in the biz hands down IMHO. With this version, I like the colour a lot... its better in person too, sort of like a chocolate brown. And I had heard so much about the CTS-XHP steel that I was very excited to see how it performs. Wowzers. Not only does the edge retention last and last.... but it is one of the most visually appealing steels I've ever seen. One step down in my opinion from S35VN... but not by much. With just a minor tweek of the pivot screw my knife performs flawlessly and hasn't left my pocket since. If you're not sure yet.... I love this knife. And I think you will too.

Cons: Handle Feel

Grate quality for the price best Mainx 2 lightwight avalable for price

this knife is a very good buy.some people may find the handle material might feel a bit light and cheap but it holds up to hard use me personally i like the handle feel but half of the other reviews the handle bothers some people . this is the best edc knife i have ever used it might be a tad large for some people but the weight easily makes up for that i forget that its in my pocket some times.also the quality and what you pay for the CTS-xhp in my opinion is just as good if not better for my needs than the s30v that comes on the regular model. Now i know steel quality is a very opinionated subject but in my experience cts-xhp holds an edge just a good as s30v while still being fairly easy to sharpen and being cheaper and it's a more collectable version as well i would say it's a win win. I don't leave home with out it. one of the best edc knives for the money in my opinion and god forbid it happen but i feel that if you have no other choice and your life is on the line i feel this knife could function very well as a self defense tool i would never run towards a fight/armed individual with just a folding knife but if i had no other choice it's better than nothing. on a side note my background with knives is collector,user/tester, it's my favorite hobby and one day i hope to make and sell my own brand of knives i say this to inform the reader that this is not just the first knife i picked up i do my research and test accordingly and only write reviews that i feel the product has earned for the quality. BE SAFE AND REMEMBER A SHARP KNIFE IS A SAFE KNIFE.

Don't Let The Color Deter You

Anyone who owns a Manix 2 Light Weight knows how good they are. I didn't care for the color of this one before I ordered, but after receiving it I was very pleased. The CTS-XHP is a wonderful steel and for now my favorite. This knife is the sharpest knife I've ever purchased, holds an edge really well and is not that hard to sharpen. I own 6 Manix2 in various configurations with S30V, S90V, S110V, CTS-BD1 and CTS-XHP. As the heading says, don't let the color deter you. I wasn't a fan of the Manix 2 LW when I ordered my first one, but after giving it a chance it really grew on me. My lightweight models end up in my pocket more often than the G10 versions.

Beautiful Sprint Run!

This Manix goes into my collection, I already have Blurple Manix I EDC. Like all Spiderco knives the fit and finish is excellent and comes very sharp out of the box. The milk chocolate clored scales really set this Manix apart as does the premium blade steel.

Mantix 2 Lightweight in CTS-XHP. A steel that's easily the equivalent of S30V, for just a couple of bucks more than BD-1.

My favorite Spyderco line and knife!

This is an amazing knife for everyday use - it is lightweight, grippy, and the ergo's of the knife fit my hand like it was designed for it. CTS XHP has proven to be a remarkably sharp and reliable steel that has held its edge after repeated use. I use mine for everyday tasks like cutting rope/twine, boxes, containers, and whittling wood. To date (about a month), it has yet to lose an edge. The lock feels very secure and I have no qualms about buying again. In fact, just to see how it outperformed the initial offering in CTS BD1, I purchased the black FRN model. Within a week I started to see a difference with the BD1 model in how much softer of a steel it was compared to XHP. Needless to say it sharpened up nicely and they both have been fantastic. I'd recommend the brown FRN and CTS XHP for anyone looking for a quality camping knife and light EDC carry. This thing is a 5/5 from Spyderco - I also have a Paramilitary 2 with G10 scales that has begun to collect dust in my safe because of how awesome this one is..and it's much cheaper too!

Manix 2 is one of the best values out there

This is my second Manix 2. I also have the blurple S110. I love the g-10 version it has been spending more time in my pocket than any other knife I own. I had been looking at a lightweight version for a change of pace. First the handle actually has better traction than the g-10. I have read some people don't like the handle but it seems sturdy enough to me. It feels very substantial, lightweight, and aggressive. The clip holds the knife secure in my pocket. Action was a little stiff but will be better with usage. I love the ball bearing lock. My favorite knife to flick. Blade is razor sharp and centered. Never used XHP but it gets rave reviews. This was my first time using KnifeCenter, awesome service, I could not be happier with the price and service. Overall this is a great knife. Your money buys a whole lot of knife with high end steel. If you're worried about the handle being cheap I say its almost as good as the g-10 and considering the low price and the lighter weight it's a better bargain. Awesome value

Favorite Knife of ALL TIME

Have you ever picked up a knife and knew, in that instant, that you're holding something magic? That's what happened to me the first time I picked up my KC exclusive Manix 2 LW. When I first touched the FRCP handle, it kind of threw me for a loop. The handle is not FRN, and it does have a more "plastic" feel to it than FRN does. I had to remind myself several times that this stuff was tougher than anything I could throw at it before I was able to get over that hump. But once I got beyond that, there was no looking back. In hand, the Manix just kind of melted away. The ergos are fantastic. FRCP is really great stuff, and once you get over that first "plastic" sensation, you can appreciate it for the sturdy, but SUPER lightweight material it is. When I slip it into my pocket, I sometimes forget it's there. That is the mark of a great EDC. Combined with the wire clip, this knife is nearly invisible in feel and looks when I drop it in my back pocket. CTS-XHP is great, and a huge bump over BD-1. You're paying about $6 more for that improvement compared to a standard Manix 2 LW! So, let's recap. For less than $90 you get an awesome EDC platform, with awesome steel, and great ergos. Oh, as for the color, some may hate it, some may love it. I really like it. I think the pic of the Manix 2 on the APC (I think it's a Stryker?) really captures the color best. It's like a dark earth color.

XHP had me ordering

I've had this Spyderco for about three weeks. I've spent time opening and closing it daily during that time and I lubed the pivot. I'm not too keen on loosening the action until I give it a chance to break in. This knife has become my EDC due to the lightweight and the leaf blade size. It's broken in and I can close it with a flick. It ;locks up tight. It's my second Manix 2 LW and I bought it for the XHP blade. I haven't sharpened it since I received it and I cut several cardboard boxes with it today and I can still shave my arm with it. Very satisfied to say the least!

Happy Customer!

I love this knife! It's very easy to carry because of it's shape and light weight. In fact, it's so easy to carry that I that I feel guilty if I don't carry it everywhere. I almost decided to carry it on a run yesterday! Even though there is a lot of plastic in this knife, nothing about it feels cheap! I would buy this knife again in a second, and I would, without a doubt, recommend this knife to anyone!

What else to say about this lightweight awesome blade. For less than 100 dollars you are getting more knife in one of the better steels than some $200+ knives. The handle color is too each their own, I like it but it's really to mark it as a sprint run. Buy it while you can 2nd hand market will be double this price. A VERY PLEASANT SURPRISE…

I have my Spyderco C101PBN2 Manix 2 in my pocket right now. I have to admit I feel like I’m “cheating on my wife” because I am a BENCHMADE man (I have 5 that I rotate). This Spyderco Manix is light…very light and the Brown FRCP handle looks cheap – almost “toy-like”, but don’t be fooled! This is a serious knife with a quality, razor-sharp blade that you can swing into action in a second. You can grab the knife by the oversized “Round Hole” and snap it open…you can thumb the hole and the blade will pop out…or you can pull back on the Ball Bearing Lock and flip … the blade locks up sure and safe. (My favorite way since I’m an AXIS LOCK fan.). Light, fast action, sharp and safe… and all of this for $90! This knife is a winner and the folks at KnifeCenter.com made Christmas shopping for myself easy and fun.

I must admit.... I dont own this exact knife yet. I do however own multiple lw manix 2 and a xhp steel knife. My guess is this knife will be superb. The manix2 is a awesome knife that fits the hand, in my opinion, perfectly. The light weight version of the manix 2 is great for edc. My experience with xhp is awesome... it hold a great edge for a long time. Awesome knife for the price in my mind!

Another great Spyderco sprint run

I bought the Spyderco Manix 2 (Knifecenter exclusive). The knife like all the Manix 2 knives are great but the brown handles look so good & the CTS-XHP Steel is sure to hold A great edge. It kicked my Stretch Hap-40 out my pocket, which is not an easy task to do. Fit & finish was fair. It came razor sharp. It's another great knife I can surly pass down to my son. I can only hope knifecenter keeps having Spyderco build theses awesome sprint runs in the future.

JUST ABOUT THE PERFECT EDC KNIFE.

Just about, the perfect EDC knife. A lightweight Manix 2, in a steel, easily the equivalent of g-10 Manix 2's S30V, at a price point, very close to The lightweight's BD-1. Some have complained about the brown FRN, commenting that is ugly, but personally, I have a lot of Coyote Brown and OD load bearing gear, that the brown Mantix 2 LW works just fine with. This knife is a total homerun.

Excellent

I love this knife in so many ways. I returned the Manix 2 with BD-1 steel because the BD-1 (STEEL ONLY) is absolute junk. Anyway, this CTS-XHP steel is wicked sharp, the handle grip is super light, yet sturdy. It also molds so well to your hand. The wire clip is strong and unobtrusive, which makes for an easy carry. The ball bearing lock holds the blade in place superbly. Blade play are two words that don't even exist here. Honestly, the brown handles make this knife even more attractive that your typical black FRN handles. A well built knife indeed. By the way, the guy who rated this, two reviews down from me just an FYI: They do make a Manix 2 with G10 handles and steel liners; it's beautiful and solid.

Good stuff.

Another excellent Spyderco. Weighs less than many knives half it's size. A bit chunky size-wise when folded and in the pocket. Doesn't bother me much, but I guess it depends on what else you might carry in your pockets. I love the texturing Spyderco puts on their plastics. But I do have a small grip with this particular model... the edges are pretty square. I wish the underside was more contoured like on the Delica/Endura models. Other than that, great! Pivot was a little tight and the lock a little rough in the beginning. I resisted the urge to adjust anything and she broke in quite nicely in a week or two.

Great lightweight full size option

This is my third Manix 2 and my first lightweight model and I love the fact that Spyderco kept the same fantastic ergonomics and blade shape/size but in a lighter package. I am a casual user - slicing fruit, opening packages, campsite stuff, etc. - and while I can't attest to the long term performance of the steel it is incredibly sharp out of the box and very well finished. The action is smooth and the blade was perfectly centered. The knife definitely doesn't have the same feel as the G10 models with full steel liners but I don't have any concerns about whether or not it will hold up to moderate use. If you are a current Manix user and want a lighter option for summer, or you have been considering trying out the Manix line in general, this is a great choice!

I had been wanting to try CTS-XHP steel anyway, and considering this was only about $10 more than the budget steel version with BD1 it was a no brainer. First impressions of the knife were excellent fit and finish, pivot needed a very minor adjustment to swing freely, but now does so with 0 blade play in any direction, and the FRCP felt cheap in hand. I proceeded to carry for a few days and quickly grew to love the thing. I actually like the feel in hand now, as it is very comfortable, and weight makes it carry well even in basketball shorts. The way the blade swings so freely with 100% solid lockup amazes me with the only rival being the CF Cruwear Manix 2 I ended up purchasing. I find the XHP blade to be superior to my S30V blades which all tend to suffer minor damages in my daily use, the XHP has held up excellently. While the FRCP scales aren't considered premium materials, I honestly believe this is probably the best folding knife you can get for under $100. I recommend to anyone considering a LW Manix 2 to go with this model over the standard BD1 model, for only $10 more why not get a blade steel that is used in some of Spydercos expensive models (such as the Slysz Bowie, a $300 knife).

Awesome lightweight edc option

I'm more a Benchmade guy, but, the manix 2 is one of my all time favorite designs. Have 2 g10 versions, and 2 blue,1 black and 1KC exclusive lightweight (this one) and another KC version on the way. A awesome design in g10 or lightweight option. All super smooth, lock spring tension will ease up after a short break in period. All are free of blade play with fluid smooth pivots that allow the blade frictionless action. All lock up solid! One of my top edc folders. I am a knife knut, user/collector with many costlier options and pick up a manix very often. This version with the cts-xhp steel is fantastic, one design I will have every model.

The best pocket knife

I have purchased several products here and have been pleased with almost every one. This is the best by far. I'm a Spyderco "Homer ", but I think everyone should try thus one. Camped this weekend and put it to the test. Had a Hurricane by the way. Sharpest blade, still sharp, tough as nails, and has taken over as the lightest/best from Native 5. Don't even notice it in my pocket with zip off pants . Best knife I've owned...and that's saying a lot. I hesitated for a while vs. The PM2. I'm sure I will own one day, but this awesome. Love Spyderco

Fantastic Knife! Love It.

KCI commissioned a great knife. I have been using this knife for a few days, mostly chopping in the kitchen. It's still shaving sharp. Have several Manix 2 knives but I like this lightweight version best. The handle color is cool and I love the CTS-XHP. Blade in centered. It locks up solidly. No blade play and check out the cost. Cheapest Manix out there. Thanks Knife Center!

Great pocket knife

It's razor sharp out of the box and made in colorado USA, have excellent steel, and simply disappear in your pocket. These are one of the best values in knives. When more and more companies, even Spyderco, are moving their knife production out of the USA and Japan, it is nice to still find an incredible USA made knife.

Light, Sharp, great ergos for big hands

Bought this knife as a hiking/backpacking knife. It's exactly what I expected. Light, well made, and my particular sample came very, very sharp. Shaved hair smoothly right out of the box. If you have large hands you'll love the ergo's on this knife. I'm a fan!

Very light and quality EDC

I use this as a edc. For being larger, it fits perfectly inside the coin pocket on my Jeans. I don't like to carry my EDC in my main pocket. I like everything about it, except.... The action on my the knife I received is stiff. I tried loosening the pivot screws, but that had minimal effect. Still deploys well, but would prefer it less tight. Hopefully it becomes looser with time.

Overall great knife but....

Overall this is an outstanding knife. I sort of started with Spyderco then LyonSteel then Brous now back to Spyderco again. In my option Spyderco is not the "sexiest" looking knife but there form and function is close to one of the best. I'm happy with it almost entirely but for me the lightweight (which is my first) is just a hair on the almost to light side so I'll get a FRN version with liners if they make one if not a G-10 one. I'd give it 4.75 stars if I could.

Quality knife for the price.

My favorite brand is benchmade. My friend showed me the black Manix 2 LW and I was impressed enough to get this one. For the price, you really can't beat it. Good action, solid lock up, bearing lock is nice too (more stuff than an axis lock but that wasn't a big dea). It's not my favorite knife, but it may be the best value.

Great knife

CTS-XHP is a great steel. Not as good as M390 but right up there. Love the weight on this guy and the plastic handles feel good in hand although there are a couple small gaps between the scales and back spacer portion (my buddy bought the same one with similar issues). It is pinned so no disassembly. Action was very stiff on mine but some Militec1 and pivot screw work took care of it. Overall happy i bought it! My 3rd Manix 2

Manix 2 cts-xhp

As an every day carry, this knife feels big. It is the same length as my pm2 but the folded depth feels much larger. The handle flet like hard plastic. I much prefer frn to frcp. Cts-xhp is amazing. The knife came sharp and a few minutes on a strop and it is laser beam sharp.

Manix 2 - nice knife - 1 nit

The use for this knife is as a pocket knife everyday carry. Knife came sharp. The knife is sharp out of the box as all Spydeco's I've owned. The handle is light, the color is plain brown. The one recommendation/nit I have with this knife has to do with the clip. When the knife is stored in the front jean pocket: I would like if the knife was designed so the clip puts the flat part of the handle at the back of the pocket. I removed the clip and reinstalled on the back side of the knife to accomplish this. The knife stays closed in the pocket, but there is no lock to keep it closed. If the knife opens a little the point of the blade with catch the hand - not good. It was nice that the handle was molded to accept the clip on each side. I would prefer the blade to open to the back of the pocket and the profile of the knife to be flat in the back not the roundness of the blade.

Manix 2 Lightweight - high versatility folding blade

I am quite happy with this blade. Several things impress me with only few reservations. Blade steel: I have found CTS XHP to he quite adequate and up to the challenge. This way my first powder metallurgy steel and the quote "best quality" steel I own of all my knives. Good edge holding but takes more effort and time to sharpen. One problem I found is that I had acquired large chips after carving wood which took a while to grind out, possibly due to too shallow of an edge angle and extreme hardness of the steel. I have since repaired it with a steeper relief edge and the knife performs fine. Blade shape: Drop point leaf blade shapes make for good slicers (especially with a full flat grind) and have a great tip, but the lack of a flat portion reduces controlled cuts. Also, proper care must be taken when sharpening with a constant angle device, such as the lansky, to ensure a consistent angle. And since it's a Spyderco, you'll need to deal with the strange 90 degree plunge grind and unsharpened recurve at the blade base (also a dislike of mine). Ergonomics: Excellent. Lightweight, comfortable, stiff pocket clip, and quite thin. Fantastic handle forms perfectly to the hand and the scale texture is great. Good jimping as well. My one complaint is that the action is stiff at first compared to a Benchmade axis lock. Also, the pinned construction of the handle does not allow for disassembly unless you're mechanically savvy. Durability: Up to par. It's a Spyderco with Spyderco quality. Handles flex a little, but do not be fooled. Fiber reinforced materials and plenty strong. Not much else to say here. Lock: Very strong and very positive. Tune the pivots right and you'll get zero play with a decent action. Not as easy to close as an axis lock, but adequate.

After 50 days

I'm loving this knife so far. Blade grind is just a little off, lock was somewhat hard to actuate on arrival. But what bothers me is a slight seperati o n on the back of the Fiber reinforced co-poloymer handle. If i pay 90 dollars for american made I expect the little things to be right as far as for and finish. But! I love the weight , lock up is rock solid no wiggle in any direction. It came pretty sharp. Not quite laser beam sharp but above average. Over all 4 outta 5 stars I really like the color and steel.

Muy buena relación precio/ calidad

Muy buen plegable, excelente acero. Plegable para usar de EDC, bajo peso. La terminación no es de la mejor, por estar hecho en USA. El color de las cachas no es muy lindo, pero compensa el acero.

Ok knife

Just ok knife. Handle feels very plastic, not like on endura. You need to put some rubber gloves for traction. Knife was not razor sharp, just sharp. Best of all angle was waaay off. Will send to Spyderco to resharpen.

Great knife for price

The only bad thing I can say is the handles feel brittle at first, after a few days out bush though I have confidence in them. Only bad thing is the lack of grip on top and bottom.

Nice knife - couldn't change the clip to a position for a left-handed

A good knife, but don't expect to be able to dismount the clip, and remount it on the other side. On all other Spyderco knives I've owned, this was either impossible, or easy. On this model the pin holding the clip in rotates in it's socket, so it cannot easily be unscrewed. I ended up removing the clip altogether, which was not the ideal solution.
