I use this knife as a dressy, everyday carry knife. It is great looking and very functional. It weighs more than the carbon fiber Sage that I also carry at times but not bad. The corners could be softer and more rounded but again, not bad.
While the Sage I is my favorite in the series, the Sage IV is the best looking. So good looking, that I hesitate to actually use it much. For now, it is more of an ogling and fondling knife. Like virtually all Spyderco's, this one is scary sharp right out of the box. The Ironwood scales are a thing to behold ... darker than in the picture here. The heft of the knife is great, in my opinion. The only negative about the knife is that the one I received is much more stiff opening than I would have imagined ... even for a lockback. There have been other reports of this on various forums. My guess is that this is the result of an overly strong lock spring. The first time I opened it, I thought ... this is very un-Spiderco-like. The issue should resolve itself over time. Regardless, it's a great addition to my rapidly growing collection. ZERO regrets on this one.
