My Favorite, Fighting knife capable

Until this model, and I have had it since they first came out, my favorites were my Police model, my Civilian and my Embassy model. The Navaja has the look and feel of a very capable fighting folder, and that is how it rides in my pocket, reserved for that very purpose. The fit and finish are very nice. I rather like the rachet, and as far as the noise-about the time someone would hear it, I would have already used it. I'll summarize-it rides along with my custom Fred Perrin fighting knives, I like it that much.

Original and beautiful

This knife is very nice. The design and the originality are remarkable. I won't use it as a EDC but as a nice object to look at.

Very special EDC

Its Spyderco's standard qualtity and this means just perfect quality! It comes almost razor sharp but it needs a few strops with the leather. The finishing, the special blade shape and the carraca makes it to a very special edc. It's showtime...

Ed Schempp Navaja

I love this knife! My favorite knife until this came along was the original Spyderco large Persian model(C83BMP. This knife is just as cool with great ethnic blade shape and noise making ratcheting opening mechanism. The carbon fiber handle scales and the CPM30V blade steel are high quality all the way. I only wish the pocket clip was polished because the finish on the one that comes with the knife will wear over time.

Spyderco C14CFP Schempp Folding Knife

This Knife is the best working knife I own. It is very smooth opening and very sharp. The Knife fits my hand like a glove and is very durable, from using it on the boat around salt water it has no rust issues.

Awsome!

Although I expected the sound of the opening to be louder (like the original Sevillana) was said to be it is noticeable, specially if you open the knife fast. Overall it is an incredible knife and the quality is unsurpassed.

Better than the original--but quieter

I was quite enthused to receive this knife. I've always been a fan of the navaja, but found it awkward to open and close. This knife is ethnic done right...great blade geometry, handles are superior..and thin enough for comfortable pocket carry. The liner lock is tight, but the advertised "ratcheting sound" is almost inaudible...which you may or may not appreciate. This is the best new Spyderco since the Michael Janich Yojimbo...and that is high praise. Not everybody's choice, but if you like updated "cultural cutlry" this is one to add to your collection.

Nice knife

I thought the knife could have have a lille more heft to it, the blade needs to be thicker and heavier

Nice knife

If you want it for the collection OK, but if you want to use it ..... you must know that the liner lock is very not easy to use, it's too concealed and the handle is ... too squared, a more rounded one will be more interesting to use, of course to be square is good with the overall design. The unique Carraca or ratcheting sound produced when opening or closing the blade ... to me the sound do not like "ratcheting" and do not ad something to the knife

Not even two days after I got the knife the ratcheting mech. broke

The second day of owning the Ed Schempp Navaja, the "carraca" mechanism stopped making the ratcheting sound. The only thing I did with the knife was open and close it. I didn't even use the knife. For the price I paid, I am not at all satisfied with the knife. I love Spyderco and have never had an issue with one of their knives. What a let-down.
