Quality Materials, Fit, and Finish

This knife marks a few firsts for me: first titanium handles, first CTS-XHP, first stonewashed blade, first integral handle knife lock, first clip of this style. I'm liking all of these features a lot so far. The fit and finish is superb on this knife, especially the detents. Nice and sharp, and should be a great utility knife. It's not as comfortable to hold as a PM2, but then it's a lot smaller overall and is fairly ergonomic for how small the footprint is. I find the best opening method for this little guy to be the thumb flick; pretty hard to consistently, successfully open it with my preferred middle finger flick. Definitely carries great in the pocket as well. I may be looking into more titanium handed blades in the future. The materials used definitely contribute to the higher price tag. One thing that I was a bit surprised by: [mostly] one side of the knife arrived from KnifeCenter covered in oil inside the bubble wrap, inside the Spyderco box. I've not received a knife like that before, but the oil washed off very easily and hasn't creeped back out of any of the crevices since. Checked with a forum and it seems to be common among some of these newer titanium models coming from the Taichung factory. Probably a corrosion-resistance measure, just a first for me.

The perfect little stout/beefy edc. Thick spine but tapers to razor edge sharp. Amazing quality. The Taichung Taiwan Spydercos are hands down the best quality & finish. You can feel and see the difference here.

Very Pleased

Really happy with this knife. Unlike the previous commenter, no lockup issues on mine. Fantastic materials. I find the clip placement helps with ease of opening, and prevents the RIL cutout from getting stuck on the edge of your pocket while drawing like some knives do. It also ads greater stability in reverse grip. Nice fit an finish, especially the detent. Quietly nestles into a secure closed position with such precision that it feels more like a mid-tech than production knife. Outperforms my comparable DPX Hest/Urban in every way, and is more affordable. Great design by Slysz, modeled after his Gen 2 Mouse I think.

I like this knife

As a longtime owner and fan of the original Techno, I bought the 2 as soon as it came out. At first, I wasn't very psyched about the Techno 2 because it didn't seem all that different from the original, and I thought some of the design changes actually made the knife worse than before. Then I did a few days with the old Techno, followed by a week with the 2, and I found that I preferred the new version for a variety of reasons. It's a bit thinner, the ergonomics are more precise, and the blade shape having a longer flat section for cutting makes a lot more sense for the size. Here's the thing: I doubt many people are looking at the Techno 2 to be the only knife they will own. Like many enthusiasts, this is one of those pieces that's unique, and it's designed by Marcin Slysz, whose designs simply are not ordinary. The Techno was a pretty badass little piece with the cool blue backspacer and the thick titanium scales. As much as it was overbuilt and not super easy to carry, it was definitely unique. This version is still a very unique design, it just sits in the pocket better and plays a bit nicer. The overall fit and finish are beautiful, and the blade itself is very well polished. I am happy to have both versions of the Techno in my collection. I carry the Techno 2 most often, but I often keep the original Techno in my backpack.

The Techno 2 Is Amazing!

The fit and finish on this knife is truly EXCELLENT. The blade is as sharp as a filet knife and with CTS-XHP it's going to stay that way for a long time. I hadn't bought a Spyderco for months until this December. I'm so glad I came back and found this little wonder. SO SOLID!! Well done, Spyderco!

Great update to the original

Just picked mine up this morning. Beautiful knife and I much prefer the blade shape to the original Techno. I do not care for the placement of the wire clip. It sits too high on the knife (ala Positron) and is definitely noticeable in the hand. I modified a deep carry clip for a Leek and mounted it via its front hole on the screw for the wire clip. Sits dead center on handle and all the way at the back of the knife. It’s much better in the hand that way and doesn’t look either. That said, I have some additional mods to the clip planned to make it look like it is OEM. Great knife. I sliced apples with it and it did well. Not Chapparel well, but then again, very well for the thickness of the blade stock. Definitely a keeper.

I prefer the Techno 1-the original

I prefer the original on every point. The stout beautifully-finished flat grind blade is well proportioned. The Taiwanese product is perfectly finished. I purchased two of them. The new version? Not much. NEGATIVES? Yes. Neither have a steel lock bar insert. I also have some better versions of this style knife done the right way. The Cheburkov Bulldog available in stainless Damascus and M390 from Russia. Hard to get. Of course they are in a higher class alltogether... and higher priced. I got two of them too.

very late lock up at 95%, quality control failed big time!

the Techno 2 looks way better than the original Techno. titanium is always premium. cts-xhp is a great stainless steel. but how could quality control let 95% lock up slip through the cracks of production!!! this is a defect, and all of us knife collectors and fans know this! new folding knives with frame locks should never be at 95% lock up. i'm returning this knife for a refund. don't buy this knife, you will be disappointed.
