Another Homer For Spyderco!

This is a truly great quality piece with a multitude of uses. The quality is typical Spyderco which means that it is top notch in every respect. ThePakkawood scales are very unique as well as attractive, practical, grippy and comfortable. The HAP40/SUS410 steel makes for a great high quality blade steel great for blade strength as well as edge holding qualities. All in all really a great purchase as a quality EDC,a tactical carry or as a unique addition to a personal collection.

Another Home Run For Spyderco

Once again, Spyderco has hit one out of the park! This little Gem is an all around delight. It is constructed of high quality blade steel, unique and beautiful Pakkawood laminate scales all done in a great EDC size package. This is a beauty that can provide reliable service for every purpose from EDC utility carry to upscale type dress carry. I've just finished picking up my second one as a result of being so pleased with my first purchase, and I would urge everyone to grab one soon before they're all gone for good.

Updated Review

All of the good things I mentioned in my previous review remain unchanged - beautiful mahogany wood handle - great action - vey sharp blade. What's different now is that I was able to find a knife care product "Flitz Polish" that successfully cleaned the stropping compound off of the blade. I had put the stropping compound on the blade intentionally to try to polish the blade and I couldn't get all of it off until I used this stuff to clean it. Worked like a charm - the compound has been removed without scratching the surface and now the knife is back to as new condition. I couldn't be more pleased.

Very beautiful knife - but . . .

One other reviewer used the word stunning referring to the beauty of this knife - I couldn't agree more. The Mahogany Pakkawood grain pattern on the one I received is absolutely gorgeous. I hate all Spyderco clips that aren't deep carry and have replaced with an aftermarket clip - but that's my preference. The action does need some breaking in but it will loosen up to the point that you can Spydie flick it open. The HAP40 is very sharp - my only big complaint is how prone to scratching the SUS10 stainless steel laminate is. I put several ugly scratches in the blade with a cleaning cloth with some stropping material on it - something I've done with every other knife I own. Very disappointing - So I'm reducing my rating by 1 point.

Rough

I love the knife after spending an hour on the kme making it sharp. Dull as s*** out of the box. Centering is questionable but maybe a design “feature”. I love the look and it’s sharp af now but don’t expect something ready to cut. Kind of a bummer but I do really like it after spending time on it. Also added a lynch clip

Lower Your Expectations

The blade was not even close to centered, the edges on the inside of the Spydie Hole were much sharper than my American made Manix 2, and the opening was STIFF. When I opened with my left hand you could hear grinding in the pivot. The pocket clip was lose and moving side-to-side as well. I returned this knife immediately.
