It will surprise you

Pictures do not really do this knife justice; it looks and feels incredibly clean and nice. It is small, but gives you a lot of purchase for knives this size. Speaking of which, you will be VERY hard-pressed to find quality knives of this size that are specifically designed to be used for defense. Not that you probably will ever use it that way, but those same features also make it an excellent user. The ergos are excellent and very similar to that of the Yojimbo 2. It's comfortable and nimble. The knife cannot be thumb flicked (just slow rolled) but the spydie flick works perfectly. While it is the smallest and least dangerous of the 3 Janich blades, I think it's the most balanced in terms of trying to accomplish the mission of an EDC-friendly self-defense knife. Unlike its edgy bigger brothers, it actually does look quite practical and discrete. This is a 'jimbo you can carry in front of your in-laws. It's a jimbo you won't feel bad using every day for this and that. At the same time, just holding it in a hammer or filipino grip you can easily understand how it's still able to do many of the things Janich has designed it to do.

I never wanted a mini until this micro

I have the Yojimbo 2 in 20cv and CF but I just had to have the micro and I am thoroughly impressed with every detail. You can expect the same great quality from this Spyderco as any other Spyderco on the same tear.

Another fine knife

The blade on this knife is just about the same length as the Jimbo # 1. Only the handle is considerably shorter. Janiich considered this knife for combat and not for how your hand feels after cutting cardboard excellent knife

meh

I purchased this knife to carry on federal property. I gave it a four as its functional and exactly as described. However, I agree with another review, its overpriced. Once held in the hand you might think as i did that this is the same price as the Military with half the materials. I have design issues as well, this is the first spyderco I've owned (own a dozen including all the autos) that has the compression lock. Not a fan. Its just a liner lock that you push the liner to the side from the top/spine of the knife versus the typical inside of handle. I can see it frees them up a bit from a design standpoint but it compromises one hand open/ close. Its possible though not as easy or controlled, you have to either just let gravity close it or swing it around alike a balisong. Its supposedly stronger but they are pushing compression lock knives cheaper than traditional liner lock so cost of manufacturing has to figure in there somewhere. Functional improvements don't typically result in lower cost. Lastly you can see they sloped the spine of the blade down a bit just past the handle when it should have remained with an addition of jimping to make it user friendly. You will find your thumb goes naturally to exactly where the jimping should be. As it is now its 'neat', but not exactly user friendly in the hand and 5 times more than similar sized spyderco value series. First spyderco that might go back

Really nice little knife but a bit overpriced as configured.

The micro is an interesting little knife. It's comfortable, non-threatening, and actually kind of cool. That being said, I think it's a bit overpriced at $200, (to me around $150 in actual value). If SPYDIE upgraded the steel to something like MAGNACUT, (cue the angelic choir), it would certainly justify extra bucks. Still, I'm glad I got it and it's taken over my pocket space until something better comes along. Cheers!

Nice but….

I love it, the shape, size and function are top notch. After slicing one cardboard box TWICE the blade has a scuff that will not come off. After 1 day of in my pocket the pocket clip has a chip on it. With normal use these things are expected but I treat my knives like pocket jewelry. My fault for buying black DLC?
