thin, compact, satisfyingly simple. came sharp out of the box, as I expect from spyderco. this knife is perfect for opening packages, lighter duty utility purposes, and is light and slim enough to go in gym shorts or even double up as a "gentlemans" folder. I'm happy with it, especially for under $100.

Snazzy little blade
I've had my eye on the Roadie XL since it was introduced. Just got one as a gift. I was interested in exactly what this knife delivers. Small and lightweight enough to stay out of the way, but not so small it becomes useless. A steel that would take a silly sharp edge and keep it. Something I could actually use and not feel like an idiot. I think this knife fulfills all of that. I wear heavy work pants with a pretty generous fifth pocket. This thing clips perfectly to the top so that its natural resting position is at the outside corner of the pocket. Despite that, I can get more than enough grip on the handle to feel confident about anything I might ask a knife like this to do. Its hair popping sharp out of the box, with a decent finish to the edge itself, meaning the shave test didn't drag like it still has a burr. It is also a fantastic value by my measure. I carry other knives for heavier chores, but I wouldn't feel like a complete heel if I had to ask this thing to do some yeoman duty. Strangely enough, I would have a bit more confidence in this knife than the Salt series H2 blade I got recently. The blade stock is surprisingly stout, with a pretty robust chunk of steel constituting the detent and the spine of the handle, all the way down to the butt. In short, if you're looking for a knife in this category and don't want to go buck-wild on the price, this is definitely worth a look. Would definitely be willing to spend my own money on it again.

Massive Positive Improvement!!!!
Just received my new Roadie today. I must say, this is Spyderco's greatest achievement for 2024! This XL Roadie is what, in my opinion, the original Roadie should have been designed. With this larger size it allows for a greater and more secure grip. The new blade shape with a more pointy tip is an fantastic to use for finer detailed work. Okay, best of all, is the addition of a pocket clip. The wire clip is tight and strong and of course light weight. The overall ergonomics of this new knife really make it a joy to use. I really hope Spyderco will continue this model and even add more handle color options. If your are reading this Spyderco, making one of these in a DLC black blade and black hardware would REALLY be sick!

Spyderco Roadie XL Great Knife
The light weight and comfortably contoured handle make this knife an easy-carry. In addition, the blade's spine shape helps facilitate the two-handed opening of the slip joint and the pointed nose makes slicing open items a breeze. The pocket clip works great and is visibly almost unnoticeable.

Perfect "No Threat" EDC
The XL has the same non-threatening qualities of the Roadie, but in a more useable size and with a pocket clip. It has premium blade steel and great walk-and-talk. It is a VERY modern interpretation of the classic old slip joint folder. My wife can open it without issues even with long fingernails.

I love this bigger version of the Roadie. Fit and finish are top notch, came shaving sharp, and now has a clip which I prefer.

Might just be my favorite folder ever!
This knife is quite literally perfect for me. I have tons of knives. I like to pick them up and look at them and flip them and such, just as many of you do. When it comes time to actually carry something, however, most either take up too much pocket real estate, or are too flippy and fidgety for me to end up carrying. This is perfect, no-nonsense utility. Refined, thoughtful, simple performance. After all of the brilliant designs to come out of the Spyderco family and community, this one might just be my favorite. Great little knife
For a slip joint, it’s tight and secure, and the jumping makes it easy and safe to grip. Sharp as heck, and so solid, it fees well thought-out and very well built. Really, really happy with this little knife for cutting up fruit and whatnot while I’m out in the world. Highly recommend, and Knifecenter was awesome to work with. Quick shipping and great customer service after I goofed up my order.
