Different Kind Of Spydie
Spyderco collaborated with Fox Knives to create this interesting gentleman's knife, the Essenza. Spyderco does not normally do knives with aluminum scales, so this one made it different out of the gate. The Spydie Hole looks a little big, but it's very functional. The clip is nicely nestled in on the top, making it easier to carry the blade without drawing attention. The black grip color adds to the concealment, too. I was going to pass this one up until I noticed that instead of the usual sharp edges on the hole and spine that Spydercos normally have, the Essenza's corners were perfectly rounded, almost as if they were slightly melted.

Sleek with a quirk
Excellent gentleman's knife and great for light use EDC. Solid construction and great weight for the size. I like to my knives to have a little heft, though this isn't too heavy. Aluminum scales aren't too slippery, but not quite as much grip as I'd like. Some might say this thing is ugly. It's unique and unorthodox aesthetic is what attracted me to it. It's minimalist enough that it doesn't quite draw attention, but looks just the right amount of odd to draw a second glance. My only gripes so far are that the spydie hole is a bit sharp, and the liner lock isn't the easiest to disengage. Takes some force at the right angle to unlock. Hopefully will wear in with time, but at the moment my thumb hurts. Maybe I'm wrong, and I'm sure it had to do with the colab with Fox (or keeping with the original design), but maybe could have utilized Spyderco's compression lock?
