Incredible Knife

The fit of this knife in my hand is flawless. It’s easy to draw the blade w one hand while working. The steel is high quality and the sharpness is exceptional.

This one is very good - awesome if you like a bigger blade

I really like this one! The QC on mine was awesome, fantastic blade grind and action out of the box. This was a pre order for me, placed in March of 2023 - If you like bigger blades, this one is a must buy & try. Spyderco does a great job on its S30V - I've had the Military 2 for a month and it has been in my pocket every day - just now touched up the edge and back to razor sharp. It is like the big brother to the PM2, but the cutting angle from the handle has a drop to it unlike the PM2 which is more neutral - the Military 2 my new favorite! Thank you KnifeCenter for the great service!

OMG I'm excited about this one.

Everything I hated about the best knife I ever carried for two years have been fixed. This seriously is going to be head and shoulders above the Para 2. Bigger blade but it weighs LESS. Can't wait for different steels and handle materials as well. This is a instant classic reborn to be the best.

Spyderco

This is my first spyderco and I like it. Fits my large hands perfectly. Blade is centered, no blade wobble and sharp right out of the box. I own buck knives, Kershaw, and even 5.11 knives but this is going to be my EDC. Thanks Spyderco.

It needs some work, but it’s good (more of a 4.5 than a 4)

Had it preordered since May, and it both has and hasn’t lived up to the hype. It IS very high-quality. It’s shaving-sharp out of the box, the handle feels full and comfortable in my hand, the clip is nice and secure, and it seems like every single tolerance is tight. The downsides are minor ones, but downsides nonetheless The first one is that the very edge, while wickedly sharp, is either too thin or was ground a little too hot at the factory, because just barely grazing my metal bench while I was opening something cause the itty-bitty tip to bend to the left, which I then bent to the right, snapping it. It’s still insanely sharp and pierces like whatever I’m stabbing is hot butter despite that, but my recommendation would be to maybe make the edge angle a little more robust when you purchase one yourself. The blade stock is already so thin that it’ll be a laser-slicer regardless The second one, and this is just a matter of time before it works itself out, is that the lock, and therefore the action, is very stiff and has the slightest hint of sticking if I fidget too much with it Lastly, on mine (not sure if this will be the case with all or most of them), there’s a perfect sweet spot where the action is really good while the pivot is tightened down a fair amount. Even a hair in either direction will make it a two-handed opener/closer, or give it noticeable side-to-side play. It’s such a small window of perfection that threadlocker is essentially required, lest you end up wasting a considerable amount of time each day adjusting it back into that narrow window Overall, in spite of the gripes, it’s very good. You pay $10 more than for the standard PM2, and you get over half an inch more blade, and only a minuscule steel decrease. Hoping custom scale options and steel variants hit the market sooner rather than later, because it really is just a PM2 optimized for people who enjoy larger EDC folders. Simple, effective, and extremely modular/modifiable

Disappointment

Right out of the box there is extreme blade play and blade alignment is way to the show side. The pivot screws are as tight as they can get making the blade play adjustment impossible. The For a knife at this price it is unacceptable quality.

Not Holding Up

After about a month and a half of owning it, I’ve come to really find this knife frustrating. I ate a lot of my criticisms at first because I assumed they’d dissipate with use and tuning, but they haven’t whatsoever, and have only gotten worse. The blade is totally off-center no matter how I adjust the pivot screws, and similarly, the only time I don’t have noticeable side-to-side blade play is when the action is cranked down so hard that it might as well be a two-handed-opening traditional knife. It’s absurd, especially since it’s from the Golden, CO factory, and not one of their cheaper models made in Seki City. It’s put quite a bad taste in my mouth, which saddens me greatly, because up until these past few months, I considered Spyderco to be my favorite and most reliable knife company. I’m not sure what to do with this thing anymore, since it’s well past the point of being “factory new”, and I don’t think Spyderco themselves could do anything to fine-tune this knife that I myself haven’t tried. Maybe I got a lemon. Maybe they’re mostly like this. Either way, I regret this purchase. I thought it was such a great deal, being $40+ less than the standard Military and with a more “reliable” lock, but I have $50 Chinese liner locks from Bestech, Civivi, and Kansept that are less finicky than this $200+ (with shipping + tax), USA-made knife. I don’t normally make rash comparisons like that, but it truly is disheartening to spend so much more money on a “more premium” knife, especially from a very reputable company, only to have it be made with less care, in spite of the quality materials.
