Perfect Medium Sized EDC

The Spyderco Native 5 in CruWear is the perfect EDC if you plan to use your knife rather than just fidget with it all day. I'm a fan of CruWear (my paramilitary 2 in CruWear has had the most pocket time for the last year) and I love the edge that I can put on this steel, so I was thrilled to see that KnifeCenter had this exclusive. The Native 5 is already a great blade shape and size. I'm 6'2" with extra large hands and the choil gives me a rock solid full four finger grip on the smooth G10 handles. This isn't a giant knife, nor is it a small knife. It's that perfect mid-size knife that rides easy in the pocket (or 5th pocket if you're a bigger guy with deeper pockets). It works bigger than it is while retaining blade finesse. It's also strong with the lockback mechanism and zero blade-play. Single hand use is possible, though this isn't a fidget friendly blade that pops open and closed. You're trading lock strength for fidget-ability. For my money, I want a hard working knife that will stand up to dozens of broken down boxes before I have to sharpen it...and this Native 5 is perfect. Oh...and it's all blacked out, which I love. Just a great knife that is going to get a ton of pocket time.

Love this knife

i bought this model because i have been wanting an American-made Spyderco for a while and found the Native's aesthetic and availability in a number of more "exotic" steels made it the perfect choice - and i was certainly not disappointed. CruWear is surprisingly tough (i spent a day stabbing through and cutting PVC pipe at awkward angles with this knife) and can be easily stropped back to a keen edge. It has become my new favourite non-stainless steel, edging out 3V because it is so easy to sharpen i'm still not sold on its flat G10 scales, though, and have already got a pair of Titanium ones, along with a deeper-carry Titanium clip.

Knifecenter Exclusive Native 5

I own several Spyderco’s. Favorite being Para 3. I love the compression lock. That being said I decided to try out a lock back and this one has great steel and looks cool. I couldn’t have made a better decision. The fit and finish is top notch. Love the feel in my hand . Very smooth to open. Love it. If you are on the fence get it. Only downside for me is clip. But Lynch clip in the way Great job Knifecenter!

Excellent EDC

My first Spyderco. I got this knife on sale and used some rewards points so I am very pleased with the value of my purchase. I am a G10 enthusiast. The scale design and finish are very comfortable. The subtle pattern ensures a secure grip. As mentioned by others, the blade arrived truly razor sharp. The first item I cut seemed to fall apart before the blade with no discernible resistance. The edge bevels were off on my knife as well, but just slightly. This has no impact on performance and is no big deal to me. I only mention it to confirm what another reviewer stated. The clip is pretty tight but that was easy to remedy. This is the sharpest and best slicer I have ever owned. And I have many knives, mainly Benchmade, Coldsteel, and Ka-Bar. The Knife Center did their standard great job in all areas. They are certainly the “go to” source for knife lovers. I will purchase additional Spyderco knives. I highly recommend this knife if you are looking for a mid-sized EDC that is tough as nails, scary sharp, and ascetically pleasing.

Love this knife

This was my first spyderco and just got it in the mail today. I immediatly fell in love with this knife and the way it feels in my hand. The smooth g10 scales don’t snag my pockets and the black just looks nicer in person. I feel like I made the correct decision on buying this knife for my first spyderco. Also knifecenter shipped the blade out fast which blew my expectations, will definitely buy my next blade here.

Probably my new favorite Spyderco

I have been collecting pocket knives for a few years now, and Spyderco has been one of my favorites since I started. One of the first Spyderco pocket knives I ever purchased was a Native 5 LW, and I liked it plenty, but ultimately those never stuck around for me. The FRN scales on the LW just don't do it for me, though they have been proven to be plenty durable. This G10 version of the native five is excellent though. The smooth G10 is so different from the peel ply textured G10 we get on most other Spyderco's and that alone is worth checking out, and in my opinion it is superior to the grip tapey G10 we normally get. I think the action is pretty darn good. The G10 version of the native 5 gets PB washers, and though we don't get a super "flicky" action, it is smooth and hydraulic and luxurious. All in all, I think the G10 version of the native 5 is the one to get, and this CPm cruwear version with smooth G10 is not only the best value, but I think it's the king of all native 5 variations right now. It's really hard not to think that the native 5 is Spyderco at its best. We forget that because most of the versions out there are the LW versions, and because of that less premium feeling.

Smooth stealth...

Sharp and stealthy! This knife came sharp. Shaving sharp as a matter of fact. Thank you Spyderco. I purchased this knife because of its blade steel, all black "dress", and past experience with Spyderco knives. This is a welcomed fourth Spyderco. Because of its size, this knife will work its way into my daily EDC rotation. Handle material and feel work great. Nice finger choil design which further lends comfort. It's a bit pricey, however I purchased a budget Dozier knife at the same time and this knife came so much sharper. This knife DID NOT disappoint!

My Perfect Spyderco

During the pandemic I became an avid knife collector and avoided Spyderco's because I thought they were ugly. I finally gave in after a couple of years and ordered a Delica and loved it, followed by a Stretch, another Delica, a Para 3, and a Native 5 in GFN. To be honest, the Native 5 fit my medium sized female hand the best put of all of them and when I saw this CruWear version on sale, I jumped on it. I love the sleek look of this all black knife and it fits perfectly in my hand. I love how I can use all four fingers to hold tightly onto this knife. I love the extreme sharpness of the CruWear, a blade material I have on my Benchmade Adamas. The only thing that is a minor distraction is the smooth G10 handle, which I forgive. All in all, the Native 5 line is my favorite Spyderco line and this version is especially durable and a bargain.

Great knife

The Native 5 is my favorite line of knives in the Spyderco lineup for every day use. This is my fourth Native 5. I love the blade length and ergonomics for everyday tasks. The Native 5 also serves as a great knife for small tasks when in the wilderness. This version with CPM Cruwear is sure to add advantages when used properly. Spyderco and KnifeCenter for the win.

Excellent knife, incredible value

I just received my natives today. As some of the other reviewers of said it was razor sharp with no blade play right out of the box. The quality control is excellent. I also have the lightweight blackout version with bi directional FRN handles and S 30 V steel. The G 10 handles on this version are smooth, but feel secure if wet. I’m left-handed and switching. The pocket clip was smooth and effortless. Again like others this is going to be part of my EDC my compliments to Knifecenter and Spyderco. DCA we need to see what Thomas looks like.😉

Native 5 Smooth G10 Exclusive

Wanted another Native 5, but with G10. Have several LW with Spy 27, M4, Magnacut and Rex 45. Love the CruWear. The thicker G10 scales fill my "larger than average hands" better. (XL glove size). I was unsure how I would like the smooth G10, but it feels refined. Sharp like all spydies, and the blacked out look on this is perfect. Great part of my rotation when I want a somewhat smaller knife that is quite capable. Glad I grabbed one while available. Most exclusives are gone quickly.

Awesome EDC knife!

This is my first Native 5… wasn’t quite sure what to think as I watched videos and read reviews. Was a bit worried it might not fight my large hands… once I got it I realized what an amazing knife this is! Ergos are great! KnifeCenter’s exclusive smooth black G10, black Cruwear, and black hardware all combine to make one heck of a knife. Only con I could give? I ordered 5 of these to give as gifts… every one had edge bevels that were all clearly uneven… was able to remedy the issue on my wicked edge, but something to be mindful of… overall this is a great EDC blade!
