Good in hand

This might just be the perfect Spyderco for me. Medium size, lightweight, so comfy in hand. The back lock works perfectly, not too stiff...just right. I guess this is my Goldielocks knife. A little pricey, but I'm thinking it's worth it.

Must have

I have had my native 5 frn for about 2 years now. I own about 30ish.. 3"- sub 3" folders. I wanted to buy a real work horse that was super light, would stay sharp with minimal maintenance, and not slip in my hand when wet. If i have to pick one knife out of my collection for pure Untamed abuse when need, this is the one i would pick. Why? Lock up is excellent, stay sharp very long, super light, will not slip in hand( unless your just careless), and looks really cool. I wish i could afford two. I would buy another just for back up.

Great EDC

Extremely light weight carry knife! I like the wire clips, but this one works very well. It is very secure and easy to deploy. I've added a small lanyard which makes it even easier. The S110V steel is quickly becoming my favorite. This is my second knife with this steel and it holds an edge like it's made of diamond. I'm thrilled to see Spyderco offering this steel on a bunch of their models. I've been using it for ordinary tasks for a couple of weeks and it's still razor sharp. One handed closing took a little practice, as I'm used to liner locks, but I've gotten pretty good at it. Fit and finish are top notch. Great knife!

Great EDC Knife!

The Native 5 Lightweight is just big enough to feel substantial in my hand, but so light it 'disappears' in my pocket. I have medium sized hands and I can still hold this knife securely without my finger in the choil. When I use the choil, it feels like a bigger knife than it is. I like the blade's shape better than my Salt 1, and I love the way the folded blade has no exposed corners to snag on anything in my pocket. I'm glad Spyderco gave this lightweight a real clip instead of the wire type that some of the other lightweights have. My only complaint is that the lock's spring is too stiff and the blade makes a loud 'click' when I open and close it. I took the knife apart and bent the spring slightly, and also cleaned the pivot area and now it opens more smoothly, but it still 'clicks' louder than I would like. This is my first S110V blade - I like having the 'Super' steel, and I really like that it is made in the U.S.A.

Lightweight Excellence

I am so glad I decided on the Native 5 Lightweight with S110v steel. If you are looking for a lightweight EDC that remains sharp and will hold up to Southern heat and humidity (Georgia) then this is the knife for you. Thank you Spyderco for bringing S110v steel to a larger market, this is my second knife with this steel and it continues to impress! I really don't think you can find a better combination of workable size that fits well in the hand and weight that allows it to disappear in a pocket. And it goes without saying that the build quality is first class! Just buy it!
