This has been my edc for roughly one year now I own the black handled version though. It surprisingly has a multitude of functions for the blade shape I use it alot for cutting hose in my profession and its flat tip has actually helped in many pinches as a flat head screw driver as well as a minor pry bar. The serrations have maintained an extremely nice working edge and the pick at the tip of the blade works well for digging out old teflon from brass fittings. I know this is marketed as a "rescue knife", but to each their own it fits it's own nitch in my pocket. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this knife again.
Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
IMPRESSIVE
I primarily collect knives, this is one to keep in the car. I live here in canal country where on occasion people may turn up missing only to be found days and weeks later at the bottom of one of our local ponds or canals and they are still strapped in their seat belts. I feel comforted with this Spyderco Rescue knife.
Great knife that you won't notice in the pocket. Nice and stiff handle, whistle is okay, great combo blade, I really like the knuckle grip on the blade for use as a pair of one handed scissors. I initially thought I'd prefer the permanent window breaker as seen on a lot of offer knives but I really like how this one retracts and won't get caught in your pocket. VG-10 is great, would like to see this in H-1.
Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
LOVE this knife ! I probably own +100 knives and this one is one of my top knives. As some folks say, it appears to be a bit BIG, but it has a VERY nice feel in your hand. Much nicer than many knives. And when it comes to being SHARP, this one is extremely sharp (even cut myself with it, which I haven't done in years). If you are looking for a smaller, compact pocketknife, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a VERY functional, nice feeling (grip) knife, this is a GREAT knife.
This knife came super sharp right out of the box. It has a great feel to it. It fits very nice in my hand and the features that it comes are unbeatable. The blade is one the easiest to open that I have experienced.
Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Pocket Clip
excellent firefighters knife
this knife lives on my bunker gear and gets used almost every shift for one thing or another. the serrations chew through seatbelts and clothes, and the glass breaker makes short work of auto glass. the VG-10 blade steel holds an edge well and is easy to maintain on the spyderco sharpmaker. the handle is bulky but 9 times out of 10 when i use this knife im wearing thick fire or extrication gloves, so the bulky handle fits perfectly. the only thing i would improve is the pocket clip. the wire clip provides adequate retention but it is harder to slip it back over the pocket of my bunker jacket. i would like to see the same style of clip as my spyderco citadel. overall im extremly impressed with sal glesser and spyderco for designing such a great knife.
The knife was exactly what they said it was! A great tool for every first responder.
