Perfect EDC Knife

This PM2 is great. It has the updated blade steal with CruWear and the raw canvas micara handles are a favorite of mine. I rubbed the handles down with Saddle Soap and let them rest in the sun for an afternoon. Gave them a nice finish. The only thing I would add is a deep carry clip and I wish Spyderco would include it.

Excellent Knife!

This is one of my favorite Spyderco designs in my favorite handle material and steel. Cruwear holds an edge for a long time and is easy to sharpen. My EDC knives typically don't see heavy use; I mostly open packages and cut plastic. This knife is awesome in every aspect.

Great EDC

As an EDC, this is close to perfect. Great blade geometry, perfect legal length for my area, solid handle ergos and scales, excellent lock mechanism, easy to open. Came sharp as a razor. A little loose in the pivot for my tastes, but was easy enough to tighten slightly. My only nitpicks are I find the detent a little weak. I'm always paranoid about a blade coming slightly open in my pocket and slicing me up -- which I've experienced with flipper knives which seem to typically have weak detents to facilitate the flipper mechanism. Also I prefer the Seki bi-directional FRN over any other scale material. It's too bad they don't offer that as an option. I'm not talking about the lightweight versions, I mean using the same construction but rather than G10 or Micarta or whatnot, FRN. As for competitors, I also have an Endela in k390 which -- IMHO for my uses -- is a slightly better EDC. Same blade length with a bit more belly curve, but no choil (which I prefer), and a slimmer profile in the pocket. And my preferred FRN construction. I also have the Manix in Cruwear and Micarta, which is also great, but a bit of a pocket hog. Still, I'm really surprised by how much I like the PM2 and it's definitely in my EDC rotation with the Endela and Manix.

Awesome Knife!

Of all models the PM2 reigns King for me. The CRU-Wear steel is awesome. A very well rounded steel and I have enjoyed experimenting with different angles and grits on the edge. So far I have liked it on the lower side at 600 grit and a final strop on 1 or .5 micron emulsion. When going high grit 1500 and up I enjoyed it as well but liked the fast cutting at lower grit for the tasks I was working on. I would say buy this knife! You will love it without a doubt....

This has to be the sharpest factory edge I've ever handled! It makes me feel safer that the lock works from the back with this scary sharp edge. Feels quality, no play in the blade. Only needed a little lube as it was a bit dry out of the box. The action is so flicky and fun to fidget too. Would recommend! Also, thanks for the stickers!

Even better than what I thought it would be.

Hello, my name is Robert and I'm a knifeaholic. I own many Spyderco products starting with the original Sharp Maker. One of my first knife purchases, among many, was the all stainless steel Endura with which I quickly fell in love. Then came the original Native and it went on and on from there. A few days ago my first Para 2 was delivered. I held out for the "Cru-carta." It is a beautiful knife from the shining Cru-wear blade to the grippy brown canvas micarta handles, everything is perfect. It came out of the box razor sharp, blade is perfectly centered, all of the grinds beautifully symmetrical and the action is as smooth as butter. The back lock is new to me, but after ten or so minutes of working the action I had it down. This is one knife that I can highly recommend. Just bear in mind that the blade is carbon steel and will patina. However, with proper maintenance this knife will last many, many years. Buy it and enjoy.

PM2 CruCarta Part 2

I've been carrying this almost everyday for about ten months, and while I have more than a few knives to EDC I have to say the PM2 is by far my favorite. This was without a doubt the sharpest production knife I ever gotten, and in almost a year of daily use I've just buffed the edge perhaps 20 times, no grinding thus far. I did switch the pocket clip so now it's tip up carry and it generally works better. I've cleaned the Micarta with alcohol twice as it was getting darker, the last time with dirty grease from the engine bay of my car. It's such a great design and just disappears in the pocket, it's always ready to go. I have broken down a few boxes recently. I've had a few Spydercos over the years but this is the best design ever. Thanks again.

Another Homer For Spyderco!

This is a truly great quality piece with a multitude of uses. The quality is typical Spyderco which means that it is top notch in every respect. The linen micarta scales are very attractive as well as practical, durable and comfortable. The Compression lock is a wonderfully designed, very strong and comfortable to use blade action The CruWear steel makes is a great upgrade and makes for a great all round steel blade quality. All in all really a great purchase as a quality EDC,a tactical carry or as a unique addition to a collection.

Typical Spyderco...

Spyderco knives have been my EDC for about 20 years now, but this was actually the first Para 2 pattern I've had. As the headline says, typical Spyderco: brilliant ergonomics, solid construction, great fit and finish, good lock mech with solid lockup, very nice materials, 4-way clip options. I love anything canvas micarta - it has such a nice feel. I don't have any experience with CruWear, but it was laser-sharp out of the box, has held up well, and seems to be a very nice steel. If I had to change anything about this knife I might give it slightly more belly, but then it might start looking like a Super Leaf and I already have one of those.

No need to sing the praises of the Para 2 as we all know it is the GOAT. However, these scales coupled w/ the cruwear steel kills it! - just perfect for this knife. I have the black and digi camo - handles versions - but this is just a much better config for EDC

Very Nice PM2

I ordered this having owned & carried a Benchmade AFCK (ATS-34) for over 25 years so I considered the Spyderco kind of an upgrade, which it is with a few caveats. I like the Spyderco but it's not like a life changing event. It is a great knife. The CruWear blade is wonderful steel, however it's not ZDP-189, which would be a life changing event. I love the micarta scales, though I do wish that the liners were titanium. I believe that was a financial decision; everything is a trade off. I love how you can grip the handle close to the blade, it's well balanced, thoughtful. The blade cuts through everything I've asked of it, but I'm not gonna break down shipping boxes, that's for some lesser knife which I have a few of. All in all it's a great blade. Just buy one. You won't regret it.

This knife is Spyderco at it's best. Blade came perfectly centered, action is very smooth, all edges where you grip are smooth with no burs etc. The blade really sharp. I'll be very interested to see how well this Cruwear blade will hold it's edge.

Just Beautiful

I don’t usually write reviews, but I was blown away when I noticed a few negative reviews on this gorgeous knife. This is as beautifully elegant a knife can get and still be solid for tactical use. This is my first para 2, so I have nothing to compare it against, the handle is a lot thicker than I thought it would be. A lot thicker than the other Spyderco I own. However, I like it, and it adds to the solid tactical feel of this knife. I have been collecting knives for 30 plus years and I own a lot of Spyderco. I never once received an off centered blade. I’m shocked that others received knives with such an issue. I’m not saying it’s not possible, I just never came across that problem. Sometimes folders need to be tightened up or loosed up, but that’s easy to do if you have the right tools. If you a knife dude, you know what I’m talking about. I did have to send my first knife back because when I went to switch the pocket clip to my preferred direction, one of the little bolts stripped. Nothing was wrong with anything else on the knife. Knife Center replaced it without issue and my second one is flawless. Occasionally, you might come across a little something here or there that makes it past QC. Just send it back for a replacement. It’s really no biggy. I was fortunate to get this beauty on sale for just over $160. Worth every penny and more.

My First Spyderco and Experience

I received this knife for Christmas (2024) and the Micarta scales are perfect and the blade came razor sharp. It's a beautiful knife. However, it's headed back to Colorado because the action is stiff. I expected some stiffness out of the box, but after almost 2 months it never improved even after lubrication, loosening pivot screws, etc. I have a new Hogue MagnaCut that is buttery smooth out of the box and expect a $200+ knife to be similar. Also, the blade is slightly off-center. It's my first Spyderco and expected it to perform similarly to other reviews listed here. One final note. My wife purchased this knife in November and I got it Christmas day. By the time I decided that the action wasn't going to improve (first week in Feb) I called knifecenter.com for guidance. They told me it was too late to return. The moral of this story is if you get it as a gift and have a problem, the clock starts when it was purchased, not when you received it. Knifecenter held fast to their policy and had no sympathy regarding a gift and its timing.

Pretty great....But...

OK, I have been carrying it for a week now. Overall I really like the knife. Blade centering is a bit off, which is disappointing in a $200 "Made in the US" knife. The action works pretty well now that it is warn in, but man, it was notchy when it arrived. A bit of RemOil and working the action a few hundred times has helped a lot. I replaced the clip with a bronze deep carry MXG Gear clip which I like much better than the clip originally provided. The bronze looks great against the tan Micarta. Overall, I really like this knife!

Not as good as I’d hoped

Daily use folder for me. I have passed up the paramilitary 2 several times for other knives and while it’s good and sharp feels pretty decent on the hand it’s just not as good as other knives in the same price point in my opinion.

Lefty in Black

I have this knife in black micarta. Was sold as a lefty operating lock mechanism and works as such. Everything is great with it with two minor issues: 1. The lock sometimes pinches the pad of my index finger when opening the knife one-handed with my thumb; and 2. the wire clip would be a big improvement over the heavier solid steel one (I know this is a personal preference maybe not shared by many Spiderco owners). Better fit and finish than the Manix, but not as "user friendly.

Color is off

I was a little disappointment with the micarta as what arrived didn't match with the picture. What I got was more brown in the micarta than the picture showed. I guess that's okay since it will wear in. I ended up having to adjust the screws since the action was extremely stiff and not well tuned on arrival. Still a nice knife.

I waited a long time for my preorder to be sent (almost a year) when I received it I was vary happy with the knife! my only complaint is the micarta scales were drastically different one side to the other. one was textured as I would expect and the other more like polished resin. I was hoping for a vary textured grip with the micarta, what I received was quite smooth on one side for some reason. I would recommend the Para 2 to anyone but maybe go aftermarket for the scales if you want that micarta feel.

I love the handles and blade steel but the one I received had terrible side to side blade play and terrible blade centering (the tip practically touches one side of the steel liners.) I was shocked at the poor quality control for a close to $200 knife. I've owned many Spyderco knives and this is the first disappointment.

Nothing like I expected

This doesn't look anything like pictures, videos or anyone else's micarta curwear PM2 I've seen. It a dark brownish orange color and the scales just look cheap and awful. May have to return this one.
