Bought it for the cool factor, but I have taken apart som cardboard boxes and in that it performs well. To me It operates as smooth as the Para 3 My hands are large to xl-large and I have no trouble with the grip size

Beast is a beauty
I fell in love with this knife the first time I saw it. The original Yojimbo is overall a great Janich design and this all black model makes it even better. Blade is sharp, well balanced, and the compression lock is near perfection. I’d love to see a version of the Yojimbo with a button compression lock like on the Smock.

Good knife
This is a pretty good knife. The blade was quite sharp from the factory and the edge was well ground. The G10 handles have just enough texture. The compression lock works well and allows you to close the knife while keeping your fingers clear of the blade path. There are a few disappointments. Mine arrived a little too tight, so I had to back off the pivot screw just a bit. The geometry of the hole and the handle make it hard for me to open quickly with my thumb. I am able to open it quickly with my middle finger, but the detent is quite strong, so this takes some practice. I find that the easiest way to open the knife quickly is to depress the compression lock and flick my wrist. The pocket clip is not deep carry and I find that it creates hot spots in my hand when gripping the knife firmly. As a result, I've replaced the pocket clip with an aftermarket deep carry clip, which is working much better for me. Finally, I would prefer some gimping on the spine of the blade. The depression on the spine helps, but gimping would make it more secure.

I'm an avid spyderco user and collector. This knife is a little small for the type and designed purpose. Blade style + hole location + grip design makes one hand thumb opening less comfortable than most spyderco models. The compression lock on the back will pinch your hands during opening, unless you use a loose grip (which is not consistent with a tactical use tool). Finger flick opening works fine. Blade pivot is very smooth. This knife is already back in the box, and will be a gift for my son (who did like the design, function, and size). Many solid Spyderco models that are awesome; this isn't one of them.

Things to know before you buy, read all the reviews. I have larger hands and the offset cut put in the handles for the compression lock bites and pinches skin every tactical opening meant with purpose. Great feel great blade material. Price well its a Spyderco they should have designed the para 3 style compression lock. Worked the knofe in good first My finger was pinched every time and purple in couple hours. Love spyderco and this knife although slighly small for my hand but that lock
