Great addition to the line
The salt 2 lc200n version is a great addition to the Spyderco salt series. It's basically a rust proof delica 4 with some small differences . The steel liners are gone, but they've increased the thickness of the frn handle to compensate for the lack of support and the tip is not quite as pointy (I assume to make it harder to stab yourself in a boat?). Rustproof blade and coated hardware keep the rust at Bay. Unlike h1 salts, you aren't giving up good plain edge retention vs vg10 on the delica. You get the same great delica ergos and that fantastic thin, slicey, full flat ground blade. This will slice much better through most materials than the older h1 blades that have a fairly low, thick hollow sabre grind. Edge retention will be far better than h1 too in the plain edge. H1 does has some crazy work hardening voodoo that makes it a better choice for serrated edge retention, but you have to give up the as sliceyness off the ffg. The handle texture is very grippy and feels nice in hand, but won't be a pocket shredder because they positioned the clip over the untextured oval in the middle of the handle. Enough room in the handle for XL hands to get a full four finger grip, which is unusual for a 3" blade without a choil. Super lightweight (under 2oz/30g!) So it carries amazingly well in lightweight shorts or a swimsuit. Perfect knife for the pool, beach or the boat. Also nice for ultra lightweight backbackers or just general lightweight edc. The only downsides I see are subjective. The green is kinda love it or hate it. Some folks don't like the feel/texture of frn. The blade edge to handle ratio isn't great if that bothers you. The pocket clip isn't deep carry, but I consider that an advantage for a knife that might often be gripped with wet hands. People who live to fidget might be bored with a plain ol backlock.
