i am a commerical diver all the real divers and tenders carry these knives because of the sharpness and saftey feature of the blunt tip they dont rust and i have never heard of one breaking i have cut through so many things with these knives including 4'in moring line which is a pain in the ass but the spyderco handled it with ease wouldnt recommend any other knife to anyone offshore no matter what perfession and if u but a little shackle and hook clip u can do away with the pocket clip and it makes access so much quicker and easy
I use the knife offshore in oil and gas industry. I am a Rigger / Rope Access Technician. The knife is used to cut ropes of various sizes, plastic, etc.
Great knife. I bought this to attach to my buoyancy aid whilst out in my canoe. Nice strong pocket clip, easy to open and close with wet hands, and very sharp straight out of the box. No signs of rust as yet. Although I do rinse the salt water off and dry it before storage. I did have a fixed bladed knife, but thought in the current climate, a folding bright yellow knife looked a little 'nicer'.
I've had this knife for almost a year now, it doesn't see to much use since I'm not always on the water but when I am this is one of the must have knives. The H1 steel is just superb. The only problem I have with this knife is that in the Spydie hole it has a burn mark. Assuming from heat treating or something I'm unsure. When I took this knife in the salt water I was amazed at how it didn't rust as it said except for one tiny spot on the H1 engraved spot on the blade. Those are the only two flaws this knife has. Since I live on a large lake and own a fishing boat, the knife is a real workhorse for me. I appreciate the design, quality and even the bright yellow color which means you can always find it.
