Svord Mini solves everyday friction

An everyday utility blade that isn't a "big scary knife". It isn't what I'd call sharp out of the box but Sanvik L7 is easy peasy to sharpen & holds the edge quite well. I've reprofiled and microbeveled the edge. It's know sharp enough to shave with and seems to melt through cardboard with equal aplomb. I wasn't sure if I'd care for the poly handle scales, but they are quite fitting and surprisingly durable. I'll have to suggest ash or hickory scales as I prefer wood though the poly does what it's intended. Overall this is a value laden blade - inexpensive enough to use for any and all cutting task yet valuable to know it isn't with you. It's become my back pocket edc.

Timeless design

This type of "friction folder" or peasant knife goes back millennia. This particular version, made in New Zealand, is a perfect blend of traditional design and modern component parts. Even if one prefers more modern folding knife technology, the design rocks, and gives the owner a glimpse into the way things used to work. Every knife lover should own one or more of these great knives.

Svord PKM 2.5

Don''r expect OOTB refinement. After all, these are PEASANT knives. Re-set the grind bevels, finish on good stones (they will take a mirror polish), and they take a wonderful edge and are good to go for a long time. Small size is so much more versatile than the original.

The best friction folder for the money, honest!

Like the Opinels, the Svörd Peasant Mini is a superb knife for what you pay. Though the Peasant comes in a few sizes, the Mini is perfect as a small EDC. You don't need a pocket clip, as it is light and small enough to carry in your pocket, though carrying it in a sheath is my preferred way. So easy to open and use, I must share that the Mini has become one of my favorites. I only wish there was a choice for carbon or stainless, as keeping a carbon steel blade clean can be difficult when traveling. Still, for all my other chores, I have no complaints with this little gem. Recommended.

Pros: Blade Material
Cons: Lock Ease of Use

The 2.5" Peasant Mini is one to have.

You're buying a Swedish carbon-steel blade that's been heat treated in New Zealand with a special formula Baker learned from another Master Cutler from the Czech Republic. The one design flaw is you should take it apart and add a collar/metal tubing or another pin on top of the existing one that keeps the blade from closing too far. That aside, this knife is all about form and function over aesthetics. It is as stripped down a design as it gets, actually dating back to Roman peasants 2000 years ago in addition to the 3-400 year old Bohemian and Bavarian peasant knives the Svord website refers to. The regular Peasant knife is a little big for my pocket but I found the 2.5" Peasant Mini with that easy-to-grab tang to be a prefect pock knife that I'm never going to have to worry if something happens to it for the $13.00 USD I paid for it. End of.

cool but not too practical

This is a cool-looking knife with a dark carbon steel blade. What isn't apparent from the picture is that when the blade folds , a long arm ending in a small loop extends. You can just see the loop in the picture above the back of the knife. This long arm makes it impractical to carry this knife in a pocket. It is made to be carried on a leather thong around your neck. It has a unique appearance and design.

Great little Knife!

Knife came pretty sharp out of the box, so I put a bit more of an edge on it myself (for the price I didn't really mind) and it's great now. The mini peasant is very compact and has almost no weight to it at all, all in all a fantastic knife!

Svord Mini Peasant knife

Great knife! This is my first friction folder and I love it. Carried in my front pocket I use it to cut everyday items, open packages etc. The blade came very sharp with even grinds. The Zytel handle and brass pins look good together and it fits my hand well. Overall this is a super utility blade and could be used as an everyday carry also. Can't go wrong here.

cool knife

I got this knife because I wanted a simpler knife to add to my collection. The svord fits the bill. This knife is well constructed,I even like the plastic handle. You can't beat the way it locks. If your hand is on it is locked. It sharpens literally razor sharp and holds its edge well. The only bad thing about it is that one side of the blade is only partially beveled. Seems like it was a mistake in manufacturing. I took it to a stone and fixed that within a few minutes.

Worst knife Ever

Most people will make a better first knife in their own garage. Not worth it at any price point.
