Excellent 'Classic' type knife
Great General purpose knife. Equally at home in the kitchen or afield. Lightweight, strong blade. The tool steel in this blade is great. Excellent edge retention. The tang is visible from the top side of the handle, and was finished flush to the wood. I would rate the handle as very good but not exceptional, as the fit wasn't 100% (some of the contours and bevels were not perfectly symmetrical, but you really have to look at them to tell). Aesthetically this knife is like a bit better finished version of the 'Old Hickory' butcher knife sold by Ontario Cutlery - but the blade grind and blade steels are different. When I purchased this mid level model, The higher grade was not yet available - only the cheaper plastic handle. If I were buying another one, I may well pony up the couple of extra dollars to get the higher trim level, because this is a knife that I will keep around for a long time.
