Works great. It's compact but the handle to the striker is not hollow

Nifty kit, but no where to store it.
The Good; The performance of the striker was great, after I scratched the coating off a portion of the rod I pulled it against the back (dull side) of a utility knife blade directed toward a small ball of dryer lint within an eggcrate. It erupted into flame quicker than if you had used a cigarette ligher!!! The Not so good; After researching firestarters, found the S&W Firestarter w/survival kit and thought it a great deal & idea, especially after looking at the ESEE firestarter with the empty storage compartment. After arriving I found that the S&W handle is NOT hollow! I realize now that in reading the extremely brief product description no where does it say the handle will contain the kit. I must have subconciously assumed that if they included loose items the handle would be capable of storing it like the ESEE.

Ok for the money
I bought this to put Into my accessory pouch for the ESEE knives. The compass was junk and the fire starter is adequate. The matches/hooks and everything else came bundled in plastic. Very compact. I bought it because it was cheap and as when you go cheap you typically get what you pay for. I'd still rather have it than not.
