Perfect in the hand love the rubberised grip and the size even though have larger hands, great product and higher recommend this to anyone who is looking for an EDC backup.

My Favorite Knife with one exception.

I own several low cost knives. I carry this one always simply because I feel I need a knife on my person at all times. Dimensions are legal in my local. Double edges stay sharp. I like the light weight. This is a good dagger. Owned this one for 7 years. Never knew the clip was detachable until I read these reviews. Wish I knew which grade of 440 steel. I wish the handle was a bit longer.

Great knife for the money. Knife is very tight in sheath at first. Won't sharpen enough to shave with but good heavy blade and easy to grip handle. Serves the purpose of a self defense knife and is legal in N.C. I carry this knife on hip everywhere I go.

Great for intended purpose

For self defense, this is a light, easily concealed, and affordable option. Great penetrating capability. Disposable if necessary without too much worry. This blade is 440A stainless, which is great for a small defensive knife, as it is very corrosion resistant, and easy to sharpen (if you dont know how, this is a perfect one to learn on) and maintain overall. I would recommend keeping the edge pristine for last ditch use only. Carry an additional blade for utility tasks. A solid choice for a very affordable price.

All around excellent

I used this knife on the farm and in agricultural college for the last fifteen plus years. It's got a good feel in the hand, and an excellent steel and edge geometry that let it hold up to just about what ever I could put it to. Whether it was cutting rubber hose, leather, wood, or anything else in my way, it has held up. The only issue I encountered was as a left handed man, I clipped the knife and sheath inside my belt with the clip on the outside. Caught in on the door frame and snapped the clip off. However, since the clip is removable and the customer service was excellent it was no problem to get a replacement. They even sent two just for the heck of it.

This knife is great for a neck knife to always have ready for any situation, work, emergencies, etc. how many times do people wish they had a knife on them, especially for emergencies.

Truly a every day knife.

This is an inexpensive knife. Knowing that, for me, it was perfect for the money. It's always in my boot. I rarely ever pull it out since it's a back up/last ditch idea anyway. Mine holds a darn good edge. Very sharp and if it won't shave, that's alright since I don't shave with it anyway. The times I have used it for work, it did what I wanted it to do. It's not a $150. + knife. It's less than $20.00 and mine has been with me for around 20 years. I'm buying another couple as gifts for my kids and an extra for me.

Ok knife

I bought this knife so I could carry it as a simple fixed blade SD neck knife. Not such a good idea. The handle is to soft, you can make permanent marks in it with your finger nail. Also, the satin finish is ruined from where it had cut through cardboard and been jabbed into wood. The sheath itself I really like. It's just a ABS plastic sheath with a boot clip that can be detached. However, it held my knife loosely so I modified it so it would sit tighter. All in all, It isn't a knife I would bet my life on, but a knife that sits at home.

it's purpose is self-explanatory by the sheer looks of it's pointy dual edge blade. yes, this is a dagger. and a pretty cool looking one it is. in fact it looks like a sleek modernized version of gerber's gurdian back-up it feels the same in hand anyway. the s&w hrt boot knife is made in china. it's sheath has a removable clip to cut down bulk thickness for neck carry or secured by lacing up with para cord. so there are options for preferred carry which is a big plus. perhaps it's edge retention is what which gets heavy blade abusers such a hard time. i presume production cost has to do with this. having dual edges on a dagger doesnt' mean more edges to cut for general purpose usages. it's pointy tip is for puncturing and it's edges slashing downwards to allow smoother penetration. besides, it's diamond shaped cross-section which is normally far too shallow to allow a more efficient steeper cutting edge. if you want a cutter or slicer look for a v-ground blade which this dagger isn't. this is a nice knife for it's price. u only need to fit it's basic generic design requirement to a proper usage perspective to see it shine.

Not what I hoped for

My cousin got this knife a couple of years ago and loved it. He used all the time whether he was mowing or using on his duty belt. He swore by this knife. When I got my own a couple of months back, I was very disappointed. The blade was not very sharp and it didn't have even bevels as the picture shows. The sheath is all right, but every time I wore it, the clip kept trying to fall off, I almost lost it a couple of times. But the handle is horrible. Though it feels good, it's so soft that from just a couple of weeks of wearing it, the handle began wearing off. I could even see the end of the tang through the butt of the knife! I guess S&W changed their manufacturer because what I got was junk. If you have the old style, keep it. But if you want the new style, look somewhere else.

Not Good. You get what you pay for...Made in China.

I bought mine at another dealer in a combo pack that included a Karambit Neck Knife (2" curved blade). Only one edge was sharpened, but my main concern is with both polymer sheaths. There is zero (0) blade retention. Either knife would be dangerous to wear around one's neck as only gravity would be holding them in the scabbard. Similar problem with using the sheath in a boot knife capacity. Imagine an edged blade popping out of the sheath and the knife falling out onto the ground at an inconvenient time or even worse, dropping inside your boot. I will NEVER use this knife. I will attempt to get my $25 refunded, otherwise both knives will end up in the junk drawer indefinitely. I wish S&W would pay more attention to quality control and who they license their name to. I REGRET NOT LOOKING FOR THE MADE IN CHINA NOTICE.
