An Acquired Taste

Even a good Scotch is an acquired taste and so is the Devil's Elbow. I've had mine for about 8 years and carry it daily. The sheath allows full 360 degree rotation so you can position it right for a strong draw on your body. I've not had issue keeping the knife in sheath and it has held up well. The blade was quite pointy but the edge did need a little work to make it shaving sharp. It is a quality carbon steel that does not require a advanced sharpening system to maintain. The handle does take getting used to. It is bare bones and just enough to grab on to. Wrapping it with paracord improves the gripping area but slapping a thin pair of wood or Micarta scales does even more to enhance your grip.

Skip It

The biggest problem with the knife itself is the handle length. It's simply too short to establish a secure grip. The best -- and for many, the only -- grip you can hope for is a sabre grip. The edges weren't impressively sharp out of the box. As for the sheath, the knife falls out without much of a shake. I'm returning this for exchange or refund.
