Nice Knife
Specifications, blade length 9 1/2"-24cm, spine thickness 5mm I bought this knife for it's looks alone (I had a similar shaped one many years ago whilst working with a search team, in the Army). This is not my idea of a traditional bowie, which has a large blade exaggerated clip point and thick spine. Although any long thick knife can be described as a bowie ( look on the search results for bowie on this site and see the myriad of blade styles). This is my third blade by United Cutlery, the finish and fit are all good the blade geometry is very nice. This knife looks fantastic. I have only tested this knife on a few branches and some fire wood. 2-3 inch branches 2 to 3 strokes, battening ok, feather sticks a dream. The handle feels nice and grippy with the rubberised textured moulding and downward curve to the pommel. The blade grind and recurved shape make for a good slicer on both forward and back strokes(very sharp on arrival). The sheath, the hilt protrudes into the sheath and has marked it pushing the belt loop out at an angle and has started to pull away the stitching at the top. The thickness of this blade is only 5mm my other blades of this size are twice as thick, the grind and the blood groove shed some extra weight, this knife is light for its size, this makes it lightning fast in your hand. Time will tell but may be too light to do the real heavy jobs! "something this big should be a pry bar and an axe"
