We purchased these blades as groomsmen gifts for our wedding. (Our wedding is Renaissance themed) We had them engraved and they'll be wearing them for the ceremony, then keeping them afterwards. They are of beautiful craftsmanship, and took engraving well!

AN EXQUISITE PIECE OF ARTWORK
I am a collector in the UK, thus this will be taking pride of place on my display board only. It is by far, the most attractive knife amongst the 50+ others. It's aesthetic lines give it an immediate attraction and it has gained the most favourable comments. It is supplied unsharpened so if you are expecting it for EDC, this probably wouldn't be your best choice, unless a lot of work was put in to sharpen each side of the blade. That said, I am extremely pleased with my purchase as it is yet another superb piece of hardware from Gil Hibben. Les, UK.

Shiny version of v-42
The Gil Hibben Single silver shadow has the overall appearance of the V-42 daggar issued to the First Special Service Force during WWII except that its not subdued. The knife is as the name implys a silvery finish. The construction is sturdy and overall a nice looking blade for my display case. The wire wrapped handle provides a fine non-slip grip. Hats off to Gil Hibben for a fine work of martial art.

Fairly well made dagger
Pros: Fit and finish are fine, holster is quiet. The point is well made. The edges are shaped neatly. The ricasso is nice and square. The "skull crusher" pommel seems it would be effective. Though it isn't one of the newer high-grade stainless or carbon steels, it is at least, corrosion resistant. Cons: While nicely made, the edges are not exactly sharp. It is very pointy, however. The sheath is a bit on the bulky side. With the supplied sheath, it is open-carry only. Things might be different with a custom sheath. I bought it because I thought it looked cool. Upon examination, I feel that is also functional. Can't touch it and heft it over the internet, right?

Great but the edges are not sharp!
The knife seems well made and the point is very sharp but the edges of the blade are not! The edges of the blade on both sides of this knife as it comes from the factory are dull and they should be razor sharp!

Good looking and thats all. Handle looks good. Blade is a cheap steel. I thought this knife was made by United Cutlery, and it is NOT. It is made for United Cutlery and that is the problem, because U.C. makes great!!! knives this is made in China and that is all I have to say. Blade is crap and badly sharpened, and it is not a full tang. I hate to return things but I can not look at this knife in my collection. I am returning it...

I wanted to use this dagger for cutting and display. It is a really preety knife, but it is made in China and it is not made by united cutlery. The reason I say United Cutlery most people think that it is made by them. The blade was very cheap I mean cheap! and it was sharpened very bad, but the way it looks it is pretty. I bet if United cutlery makes this knife I will buy three...

I had an original from early 90s and this should not bear Gil Hibben's name nor any of the United Cutlery copies. Made in China, likely by blind prison labour. There is simply no comparison. If you want something to put on shelf on a cute little stand with your $4.99 made in china Katana it is fine. If you were expecting Gil Hibben or sons quality this will make you cry. This along with the rest of the Chinese United Cutlery copies disgust are nauseating me to see this name to such low quality. MADE IN CHINA
