Gil Hibben Subhilt Assualt

The grind of the blade and its overall style for the price is remarkable. The handle appearance is lighter than in the picture, but still looks good. Sharp as a razor out of the box and it just feels right in the hand. This is a true fighting knife. For the price you will not find a better subhilt fighter. The only real flaw I found is in the guard. There is a visible seam where the guard and the body of the knife meet at the lower guard near the cutting edge.In my book it still rates as a 5. I like the knife so much I purchased two.

Hibben design assault knife/sub hilt

Recieved today Aug. 5th. ordered Aug 1st. After insp. am very satisfied. (knowing it's a China made knife). I've bought other imported knives and I was impressed with the grind on this one. I'm a retired Journeyman Tool Maker, so I can be critical. Grind was lateral except on top 1/3 and on hollow ground edge which were vertical. Grind lines were finer than others I've bought, good thing. I ran my thumbnail down the edge, no nicks or dinks. To me edge was not razor sharp but a few swipes on my Norton honestone I could shave my forearm ( 90 seconds). Handle was well made, no gaps, looseness or rough spots. Mabey slightly lighter color than pic but not much. I have average size hands I guess, good fit on handle. Maybe this will help. Outside of my index 2nd kunckle to outside of my little finger kunckle is 3 1/4 ". Circumference of index finger is 1 7/8". Good fit through sub hilt and hilt with a little room to spare. I know, nit picky but I hope this helps. Sheath was stamped Gil Hibben Design. Would recommend to all. OK, story over, lol.

Nice knife but...

All in all a good knife, but the pictures on the webpages on the knifecenter and product you get is two different things. First it's sheath, is not like the picture, it comes with a standard sheath that usually are shipped with Hibben knives. This is also wrong on the box. Second, the handle material is not as dark as it may seem on the picture, it is made of the same that is used on Alaskan Survival Knife, not that it's completely wrong but it should have been more similar to what is advertised. UC are still having some production issues since they started making the knifes in china, the finish could be better.

Editor's note: We have updated the picture of the sheath on the product page.
