Slim Swiss Army knife

Just the right size for dress pants-- it's slim profile doesn't leave a " buldge" in the bottom of the pocket--single blade is all I need

Perfect edc

I purchased this to go in my wallet. Yes, it fits in a wallet. It’s so thin and can fit anywhere. The blade snaps open and closed like a camp. The bottle opener/ screwdriver is perfect. If you want a back up blade this is the one. The knife center logo is subtle and nicely done. Every time I use it someone wants the knife.

Excellent

My 2nd favorite SAK after the Compact. Extremely thin and lightweight, fits well in the 5th pocket and disappears in any other pocket. Good blade and great tool.

Great knife; annoying KnifeCenter logo

This is a great lightweight knife that disappears completely in a pocket, and the combination tool is surprisingly handy (for driving screws, light-duty prying, and of course opening bottles). It's sufficiently useful that I find myself carrying this knife increasingly often, despite the lack of a locking blade. (Die-hard knife folks might only consider the Bantam as a backup blade, but I'm not in that category.) I like the classic red color, which is a KnifeCenter exclusive, but it comes at the cost of a cheesy "KnifeCenter.com" logo on the raised panel that's usually reserved for custom engraving. The logo isn't engraved, so I had hopes that it was simply screen-printed on and could be removed with acetone. Sadly, that's not the case. It appears that the logo was applied using a mask during the anodization process, similar to the silver areas of the Victorinox shield. It's a shame, since I think this knife and others in the red alox series would make great gifts (especially for knife-shy folks who are likely to be less intimidated by a classic red Swiss Army knife). The seller logo cheapens it for that purpose, however.

Didn't expect to like it as much as I do!

I bought this on whim, and didn't really expect to like it as much as I do. It is so thin, the red Alox is great, it came very sharp. and it's so light, you don't even know it's in your pocket. It's small enough to carry it in your 5th pocket. It's easily the thinnest and lightest knife I own. The bottle opener/can opener/screw driver/wire stripper is a nice addition, but mostly I just use the very sharp and thinly ground blade. The price was more than reasonable, and Knifecenter always ships fast. Hard to beat for the money.

Yes, it’s a keeper

Having collected pocket knives I’ve experienced the goldilocks syndrome, knives that are either too large or too small. The Bantam model is just right, having good sized blade for daily use and a screwdriver which I regularly use. Plus it really is super slim and lightweight. Its textured handle scales are gripping and much less likely to show scratches than a polished handle or brake like plastic. For my 80/20 office/field work this is an ideal daily pocket knife. I highly recommend. Swiss army is know for their multitude of tools, but I find the Bantam gets the job done. I really don’t need to strip wire or open a wine bottle. I’d rather have a slimmer and lighter knife.

Super slim and light

I actually own the plain Alox, not Red, but the review applies. Hopefully KnifeCenter will read this because I'd love to have this Red one, even if it costs $5 more, but the KnifeCenter logo on it ruins it for me so it's a pass. So while it's a super simple and basic knife for a Victorinox, it's cool because of how incredibly slim and lightweight it is. I also really like the multi-purpose opener tool because it's a nice blend of the two standard ones you typically see. So while it cannot compare to either of the originals, in this case it's especially worth the trade-off to keep the knife 1-layer. If you really prefer a can opener over a bottle opener, simply sharpen it. I think maybe the mfg left it like this for you to have that option. Even sharp it'll still open bottles.

A super slim minimalist knife

I have a Pioneer collection and really like the Alox handles. While I miss having the toothpick and tweezers the knives are just right for a pocket tool. I have a conventional Bantam for loaning people who might need a knife, these Alox versions are the perfect slender minimalist knife. There much slimmer than the Solo's I bought a while back. I believe the blade is the same size as a Cadet. I'm very happy with the two I bought and may buy some more for gifts.

Victorinox Bantam

Great knife. Add me to the list of those that don't care for the logo on the reverse side. For the people who don't understand how the wire stripper works, the combo tool is opened half-way. the wire is pushed into the notch where you want the insulation removed, the main blade is then laid on top of the wire coating and the knife is twisted while holding the wire. After cutting through, the insulation it is merely pulled off.

I wanted to add my two cents worth to the reviews for this

As one or two seem to find the Knife Centre branding a bother. Personally I find the light grey etching to be small, subtle and unobtrusive. A classy addition in fact.

Elegant pocket dropper and the color pops

A great gentleman's carry for any day or occasion. I love the red scales. I've read that there can be blade rub but mine doesn't have any at all. Glad I put this into my rotation.

Sometimes simple is great

Didn’t expect to love this knife so much. I’m trying to find a knife that I could take to work that is small, light, discrete, and feels high quality. This knife fulfills all of those parameters. It has a nice snappy opening and closing, and even though there isn’t a lock, the knife feels solid. The blade came sharp, and the can opener tool is a nice touch. It’s easily the thinnest pocket knife I own, and it gets a ton of pocket time. The only improvements I would like to see made, would be to give it copper scales, or thin tortoiseshell scales. To be honest, I could even see this knife being a nice friction folder, but Victorinox would probably never go for that.

Nice and Compact

This is a small, thin, light knife, but also has a nice heft for its size. The blade is very sharp. There is a satisfying click when the blade and screwdriver lock into place. The bottle opener works. The wire stripper- not so good. The can opener took the lid off an aluminum can OK. I think it will work with a tin can. The knife looks and feels high quality. The wire stripper is the only "not so good." It is just a notch. It will not cut the insulation on a wire. Overall I like it.

Almost exactly what I wanted! A great pocket knife and tool.

I got the black first and have just ordered the red. The only thing I would change is to go back to the original design that has the smaller blade instead of the opener. I like the logo, I like the fact that this company thinks like this. A perfect one of these would just have one blade (and nothing else) with a nick and a small lanyard hole in camo alox! My dream.

lightweight and just so classy

Not all swiss army knives end up feeling refined like this. It's the perfect size, the scales look and feel great, and the 2 tools you get end up handling almost any daily need. I do miss the scissors if I'm not carrying another SAK like the classic with me, but to get something this thin and durable and useful is worth the trade off for me most times. Only thing I will knock is sometimes it is a bit tough to open the tools, but that tension also does create some peace of mind that the blade won't close accidentally etc.

Love this knife, but....

I carry this knife everyday in my watch pocket (I'm old so that's why I still call it that). It's incredibly slim and lightweight. I bought mine with the red Alox scales and get comments about it every time I take it out of my pocket. Absolutely love this knife, but if I use the bottle opener/can opener/screwdriver and don't partially open the blade before I put away the bottle opener it nicks the knife edge. Really frustrating problem in an otherwise excellent pocket knife.

Not great

Same problems others mentioned. Blade develops chip in edge where it hits something inside of handle when closed. Also developers scratches in side of blade where it rubs against the side of the bottle opener when opening and closing. Beautiful scales but poor design and execution. First Victorinox I’ve been disappointed with out of the eight I own. Processing and shipping of order were very quick, no complaints with Knifecenters service at all!
