A Great EDC Paired With A Bigger Blade

The Rambler is a great pairing as a small pocket or keychain carry, paired with a bigger main blade for food or heavier tasks/cuts. I love this thing! It get's a lot of use everyday. The main tool I use is definitely the scissors, but every implement is nice.

1st for a few

My 3 youngest daughters all got their fist pocket knives this year. This one went to my 12 year old and a couple of the bladeless models to the 6 and 8 year olds. They all loved them. The screwdriver on these models is perfect for battery cover screws.

The best survival knife on the market. My number one choice for EDC.

About 20 years ago, I settled on the Victorinox Rambler as my first choice in an EDC knife, because it is the smallest, lightest knife on the market that has everything I really need in an EDC knife, and nothing I don't. The Rambler is without a doubt my most-used knife, and it is the first knife I recommend to people. The small size of the Rambler means that it never intimidates people when I take it out in public, and I don't need to worry about handing it to someone, if they need to borrow it. The Rambler is really just a Classic SD with the addition of the bottle cap opener from the Rally. I'm glad to see that KnifeCenter has featured the Rambler recently, and noted that the keyring is on the opposite end to the Classic SD, although I never carry mine on a keychain, because I find it too annoying to have the extra weight on my keychain, I find it difficult to use while on a keychain, and I find it annoying to have to remove the knife every time I want to use it. The one thing I would really like to see from Victorinox is a silver Alox Rambler. Over the years, I've come to realise that I am always carrying better tweezers than the Victorinox tweezers, so the only other thing I'd lose by having Alox scales is the toothpick, and let's face it, you can pretty easily find a better toothpick than the Victorinox toothpick. It would also be nice if Victorinox offered the Rambler in Black, at least. The only real downside to the Rambler is the same as that for most Victorinox knives: the plastic scales. Although they are quite durable in most usage cases, they can and do break, in the event of a hard drop or impact. I haven't actually broken the scales on a Rambler, but I have broken them on larger Victorinox knives. It might be that the smaller size and lighter weight of the Rambler makes the scales better able to withstand a drop. I used to own a Midnite Minichamp II, and I very quickly realised that I just never used half the tools in the thing, but every tool in the Rambler gets used frequently, and I never feel like I'm missing anything, at all.

Great pocket knife, all the right blades.

Always carried as a pocket knife for those times when one of the blades will come in handy, from cutting and tightening to grooming.

Good things come in small packages

This is a super handy set of tools to have on your keyring. The philips screwdriver works on larger screws than you'd expect. The toothpick always comes in handy and the bottle opener, scissors, and knife were all used within the first week. Only the wire stripper remains unused, unless you call making the screwdriver arm look cooler a use. :) You can't get this model in Australia, so I had it shipped from the US. A small cost for big satisfaction.

Perfect Penknife

I've been carrying around my Rambler everyday now for about six years, and I have to say it's just about perfect. The addition of the cap lifter/bottle opener is great once you get the hang of it, but even more useful is the surprisingly sturdy Phillips head screwdriver. It's been a lifesaver more than a couple of times. Definitely worth the upgrade over the traditional Swiss Army Knife.

Pocket companion

I use mine almost every day. It's part of my pocket "survival kit." It stays on my key chain along with a few other "must have" items. It should be standard equipment for everyone.

Perfect Key Chain Knife

I've been carrying a classic HD on my key ring for decades and this is a great upgrade. The phillips screwdriver/cap opener is a great addition without adding much bulk or weight. The other improvement is the blade opens away from the keyring - it's so much easier to use when my keys aren't flopping in the way of whatever I'm cutting.

Where's the magnet?

I already own a couple of Classic SDs and the Rambler has the same quality but is a step up with the extra tool and that the knife blade doesn't share a layer with the nail file, so the blade doesn't get scratched by the file. My only complaint is the Phillips screwdriver isn't magnetic in the least, which is a bit of a letdown. Other than that one issue it is going to be a very handy tool. Knife Center got the order right out as usual. 👍👍 I couldn't deduct a whole star for the lack of the magnet on an otherwise great little tool.

Great little knife for EDC

This knife is great for every day uses which need a small blade, scissors, nail file, small screwdrivers, tweezers. Opening packages, envelops, cutting off hangnails, emergency manicure: this knife does it all. The magnetic Phillips screwdriver is excellent: it efficiently drives small Phillips screws as well as larger (#1) ones. The wire stripper and the bottle opener functions do work, but unlike the rest of the tools, they are really more of emergency features only. The tweezers are excellent. The shipping & customer service at KnifeCenter was excellent as well! Thank You!!

Great pocket tool

Got this as a gift for my dad, I have one myself. Love the size, and the tools it has built into it. The tooth pick is very handy, scissors, bottle opener and the phillips screw driver. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great pocket tool with huge functionality.

Small Pocketknife

This knife is quite small which limits it's utility. If small is your goal, this is a good choice.

Just about perfect

Okay so I will say this is easily amongst the best out of SAK lineup because it basically has all the essential tools you would need for your edc setup. Other SAK either have too much going on or lacks a feature. I carry this little thing everyday, and it’s proved useful in my daily life. If you want an upgrade from the classic sd, this is it!

Excellent Tool, If Not a Bit Pricey

I was going back and forth quite a bit on whether to get this or the classic that everyone seems to love. My biggest hang-up was the $8 price jump from the classic to the rambler. For the addition of only one tool, that still seems like quite a bit. My guess is this increase results from having two layers as opposed to the classic's single layer. However, I finally decided on the rambler simply to play it safe; there have been times when the small phillips head screwdriver would be oh so convenient, and I'd rather pay a little more now than beat myself up later for not having the tool I need. Other than that, there's not much to say. It's a great tool for the pocket or keychain, and I get even more use out of this little guy than I do with my dedicated edc knife! A perfect choice for someone who's not keen on carrying a full-sized pocket knife.
