Great knife to have in your pocket

Perfect knife/tools for many things you'll come across on a day to day basis. Not sure why some people are complaining about the Knife Center logo....you can barely see it, and it doesn't take anything away from the knife. I guess there are some people in the world that need to complain about every little thing. I have half a dozen SAKs and recently picked up this and the Farmer X - the Pioneer X goes in the pocket and the Farmer X goes in the pack for hiking when I don't need/want something as big and robust as the RangerGrip. Both the Farmer X and Pioneer X are easy to carry, but the Pioneer X noticeably feels like a lot "less" in your pocket even though the size and weight differences are pretty minimal. I don't generally need a wood saw in an urban environment when out and about, so the Pioneer X for me makes the better "carry" option.

Good knife…. But I miss…

I purchased a knife from the Knife Center as it had a good price. I am not a fan of red, but I have grown to really like the color of this (red alox) knife. In general, it meets my needs and expectations. It has a sturdy blade and the main tools,in particular the scissors and Philips substitute are very helpful. There are two things I would change if I could wish things true- which is just a silly thought. One is a Knife Center logo on the nameplate. I would’ve been happy to have the option of putting something else there, like my name. The other is a lack of a locking flat head screwdriver. I thought it probably wouldn’t matter, I was wrong. I have an Eddie Bauer backpacker by Wenger. It has a screwdriver that locks when you press in to turn the screw. It is both clever and really works. I have to be careful with this knife as a screwdriver doesn’t lock. All this being said, I would purchase a knife again, and I would still miss the features In the end it’s a good knife at a great price.

Great Knife

The Victorinox Pioneer & Pioneer X have been my daily carry for many years, but I have never been a fan of the silver scales. I was very glad to find one with red scales and am pleased with this purchase. Knife Center was accommodating and the price was reasonable. My goal is to find a Victorinox Farmer X with scales in other colors as well.

An Old Favorite

I purchased this knife just for the memories. I had a Swiss Army knife as a kid and loved it. This is an updated version, with a sharp knife, scissors, which I'm happy about, and all other tools sharp and function smooth. Great price point. Thanks as always KC for the great products, customer service, on time delivery and prices.

My first Red Alox

I bought my first Alox Swiss Army knife in 1982, a silver Alox Soldier in 1982. Figured it was time for some color. So now, I have a beautiful Red knife with scissors. The quality is just as high now as it was over 40 years ago. Unless you lose it, these knives will last a lifetime.

This Red Alox look so elegant and classy. I'm pretty sure I will carry this more than the normal alox. I'm very happy with my purchase, and I'm shipping didn't take long from US to NZ. The only thing is being a knife centre exclusive the packaging is just so plain ordinary, nothing special on that part.

Great knife

Of course the product is great, it's Victorinox, they seem to have a QC department that is phenomenal. So while I am really pleased with the knife, I think what the highlight of this is the Knife Center. The price is great, the shipping is fast, and the product is packed well. I have a knife store near me, but I'll be shopping with the Knife Center way more in the future. I know Vic make the private reseller put a store logo on the special runs like this, and I think it looks great. I can't thank you enough Knife Center, I'll be back soon.

My new favorite EDC!

The Pioneer X has become my new favorite EDC. I have carried Victorinox Climber for several years along with the Huntsman model. The Climber was usually the one that stayed in my pocket. I never really liked the back side awl configuration though. The Pioneer X solved that for me and finally offered scissors in an alox model! The awl on the alox models is in a much better location and works so much better on the end. I would rate this knife as a 5, but there are two things that I feel could be improved. The nail nick for the scissors is on the opposite side from the Climber. Not sure why Victorinox changed that. So it takes some getting used to for opening the scissors. The other issue and I have always complained about this on the alox models, the attachment point for the keyring is at an odd angle and is thin, so it sometimes digs into your hand. I have learned to live with that as well. Overall I'm super happy with the Pioneer X, it just feels more solid in my hand than the celidor handled Victorinox models.

Knife Center logo?

Great knife. I love the knife. High, consistent quality and easy to maintain. However, I was very disappointed to see The Knife center logo emblazoned on the back. Why mark up a beautiful knife with a logo that no one cares about? Now I know some won’t care that it I. There and that’s fine. But it doesn’t add to the value. At best it’s tolerable. Seriously, it’s not like this was a promotional giveaway. Anyway, I’m returning them. What a pain!
