This Man's Best Friend
I bought this model when I was young to emulate my hero MacGuyver(80s TV show). I had the good sense to bring it with me to Basic Training Camp and can say that I used it extensively in the field with great success during our exercises. It never failed me with its good assortment of tools - two size blades one big and one small (initially very very sharp be careful) , basic screwdriver (two sizes), bottle opener, can opener, puncture/needle, corkscrew- all of them I used on more than one occasion, many of those times not for their originally designed purposes. Aside from the fond memories of my youth it brings back - which will bias this review - I will point out that it can get easily lost if you just carry it in your pocket - it can easily slip out (I tied it to my jacket pocket in the field). Another thing, this classical model of SAK does not have a solid locking mechanism that will prevent it from collapsing should you happen to force it the wrong way. Again years later I used it in the workplace where, after a while, I almost lost it by accident. So distraught was I for the time when I was looking for it that , when found, I retired it safely with my other souvenirs - call me an old sentimental. I highly recommend it.
