Great Gift

Bought two as graduation gifts. This is a great urban EDC for someone who works in tech, science, etc. 4 layers rides easy in the pocket, and fills the hand nicely. Victorinox makes the best scissors in the multitool business, and the front side screwdriver is big upgrade over the back side and can opener mounted ones.

Outstanding Tool

I've had this model for about 15 years and its been on several deployments. I REALLY like that the phillips screwdriver opens at the end of the knife instead of in the middle. My scissors are all knicked up though from using them to trim CAT 5 cable. I never leave the house without it.

My new EDC!

Immediately replaced my 2 layers Spartan. Explorer is heavier and it has 4 layers, but it is still worth to carry it. it is not heavy as Swisschamp. I still recommended Spartan for EDC, but I would carry Explorer.

Great knife

Like the way the screwdriver head comes out of the end instead of at right angles. Great scissors that will cut anything. A little heavier than other sak but still carryable. The magnifier is cool. Really like this knife

The ideal "EDC"

I added white plus scales to my Explorer, with black-tipped tweezers and toothpick, along with a pen and a pin....now it's my favorite looking SAK in addition to being my favorite SAK to carry. I find the addition of the inline screwdriver and magnifying glass to be what sets this knife apart in this size from others. I have an old Swiss Champ from the mid 1980's and this magnifying glass is a big improvement (and now that I'm almost 51, it comes in very handy). It's not too big, not too small, has about the right toolset for what I realistically need (your mileage may vary) most of the time. I do have a couple Alox Pioneer X's which I love and seemingly melt into the pocket, but if you need a philips and a magnifying glass, they come up a bit short. Same with my Handyman (never understood why they didn't put a philips on the "Handyman").

Good mid-level Swiss army knife

I was looking for a knife that had both a corkscrew and a Phillips-head screwdriver, but didn't have a lot of blades that I wouldn't use (but would have to pay for). This one comes closest to being the ideal knife for me. I'd prefer that it didn't have the magnifier and the scissors, and the punch/reamer/sewing needle is something that I haven't used much in the past, but this is as good as it gets, and it's worth the price.
