Finally found an EDC fixed blade
This review is for the micarta handle (green in my case) with black drop point blade. I have been looking for a fixed blade that I can comfortably carry daily. Love that this knife comes with the Kydex sheath and Ulticlip, it fits nicely in the pocket and is fairly lightweight so I can even pocket it in basketball shorts. At first one-handed draw was almost impossible for me, but after some practice I found that you have to pinch with your thumb between the handle and the front of the sheath until it clicks and then push off with the thumb and it draws right out. I am left handed and the Ulticlip is easily switched to the other side, and the knife itself is completely ambidextrous. The micarta is very nice looking and feeling. It does take a little wear from the detent retainer on the sheath but nothing major. The handle shape and size are perfect for my medium sized hands, great compromise of being short enough to EDC while allowing for a strong controlled grip. I have used the knife for whittling sticks into points and it is very comfortable and feels like an extension of the hand when using. The finish is nice, with the crowning going all the way through the handle and up the spine. Jimping is in a great spot so you have total control. The rings in the holes in the handle are comfortably beveled so there are no sharp edges there. M390 steel came very sharp, no touch up needed out of the box. Overall a great size and shape that allows me to make the transition from folder to fixed blade for EDC. I like it so much I ordered a marbled carbon fiber satin model on Labor Day sale as my ‘out on the town’ knife while the green micarta with black blade will be my EDC.
